***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Drawing blood is seen as a hard skill even in nursing. Good luck trying to get a bunch of cops to do that with proper technique, after all cops are known for their great patience and temperament.

These clowns 🤡 don't even know how to stop a person without killing them so this makes perfect sense.

Small detail.

The last three SCOTUS replacements where the ideology of the justice flipped have all been Liberal to conservative

Warren
Marshall
RBG

If Warren stayed until he died, Ford would have replaced him with a centrist or liberal
Clinton would have replaced Marshal with a liberal if he stayed until his death
Obama would have replaced RGB with a liberal if she had retired when Obama asked

Add to that Obama had a chance to swing the court back centrist liberal and he was blocked from doing so by Mitch

Marshal is the only one I think is remotely excusable.

Best of old white liberals wanting to protect their reputation, we are at the mercy of these Federalist Society goons. If these judges had put the country first, we could have had a 5-4 or even 6-3 liberal court.

Hell, we got lucky that two Republican-appointed judges were not loons (the ones Obama replaced). And in true liberal fashion, we don't take advantage of the luck

How Breyer can bemoan the ******* these conservatives are doing yet leave the door open for another reactionary to replace him is peak buffoonery

Of all the recent nonsense around SCOTUS nominations, it is hard to get over the ******* the last 4 nominations were.

But the story of Clarence Thomas is worth remembering. The Anita Hill story is what people mostly remember but even without that aspect of it, it was still some disgusting ****.

The Dems held the Senate and had previously forced Bush Sr. to pick a moderate conservative. Who ended up being part of the liberal wing because if you look out for people's rights, and justice, of course, you will be in the liberal wing.

This time they wanted to get a far-right reactionary on the court, to replace a civil rights hero, and to do so they chose Thomas so they could argue the Dems blocking him would amount to open racism. Even though civil rights leaders warned against Thomas. But conservatives convinced enough people that the Dems blocking Thomas, a black man, would be a more racist act than sending someone hostile to the basic right of black people to the highest court.

It was like some ******** you would hear Delk peddling.

The interest of a few black people, count for more than the interest of millions of others.

Every both-sider that bemoans partisanship should read this.

If you want a healthier brand of politics in America, stop asking reasonable people to kumbaya reactionaries, stop with the false equivalencies, stop with the contrarianism, stop with the demands of bipartisanship for the sake of bipartisanship. Hell, even stop dreaming of a day a third party will come along and make things better.

The system is the issue, fix the system, the rest falls into place.

Reforming the political and electoral system is the only way forward. To bad we have clowns in the Democratic party, who happen to be Senators, that can't get it through their heads

To be honest, I don't think Cops themselves want to be responsible for this **** too

One of the weird things about cops is that they feel too much is put on their plate. They want other agencies to support them instead of it being put on them, but if it means they lose anything in the way of overtime pay or job protections, they turn against the policies that would take things off their plate.

Police unions are a damn menace

100% agree.

Unfortunately, America is dressed like a democracy, talks like a democracy, but acts like a religion.

We believe in the Founding Fathers we believe in the Constitution, we believe in the Flag.

Belief and faith leave little room for questioning and improvement.

I wish I knew the way out...

More covid self-pwnage, perhaps?
