The Official Tennis Thread (Vol. 2024 US Open)

Lol Richard hasn't been seen at a match in years. Nobody thought Venus was going to win this match. She ran out of gas first like I said.

Venus played about a well as she has in years. Serena's level dipped significantly in the second set which is why this wasn't a Wimbledon repeat. The cold hard truth is that Serena has been the better player by a significant margin since 2002. As much as I like Venus, what you saw in the crucial moments is just how she plays.

richard probably chillin somewhere nice with some young escorts.

I heard he was very sick and has trouble remembering things. The sad part is that he has a young wife and child that he has had a hard time taking care of which is part of the reason he isn't around as much anymore.

Damn. That's sad. Didn't know he got married again.

The analysts have been so dramatic this year and exaggerating everything. They make it sound like the hug between sisters was a hug between South and North Korea.

Saw the Tennis Channel replay of Serena vs. Venus... It was better than their Wimbledon match, but you still have the feeling that they both weren't going all out. I couldn't imagine big sis wanting to end the Calendar Slam, anyway.

Vika-Halep going into a third set. Woah, a Sascha interview?!

First time I've seen that.

Wow. Bad that 2 people identified him as the suspect and an officer tackled him without saying anything. He was probably wondering if they'll kill him. Can't be sure nowadays.

QFT you can't be sure at all.

Wow, what did I missed... It looked like Vika was going to take this one before the rain delay. It's a shame because this could've been her big chance to move up in the rankings... Vika's actually going to move back a spot with this loss.

With Serena's two biggest threats gone (in my opinion they were), I think the calendar slam is a guarantee now. I think Halep can compete with Serena, but if the Cincy match is any indication, I can't actually see her possibly pulling off the upset.

Disappointed at Gasquet's effort during a quarterfinal night match at Ashe, but considering how Stan dominated Anderson, it's good to see he and Federer at full strength for the semi.

Awesome semis as all 4 players have won majors.

I think these courts favor Cilic's style of play, but Djoko will try hard. No idea how Stan / Fed will go as both have won / lost against each other.

And I wasn't surprised at Gasquet / Fed match. Fed has a long record of neutralizing his play.

Blake said the officer who tackled him didn't even apologize. I guess a simple apology is too difficult for the officer. Even when Blake tried to tell him he made a mistake and told him to look at his license and us open pass, the officer was being a douche.
