Never heard of higher property tax if paid in cash but I'm no expert. I do have a mortgage so I can speak on that. You will be saving a lot of time, peace of mind and money if you pay in full. You save on closing costs, no appraisal fee for bank, etc. You save time on looking for a lender with low interest. Once you find one, the mortgage process takes months(typically). I also say peace of mind because you won't have this monthly bill with interest over you head for the next 15/30 years(of course you can pay more and take years off the end). I'd pay in cash, no question. Get it over with fast. Wouldn't be an issue with this powerball money anyway.

I could be wrong, but i believe thats why a lot of celebrities have mortgages even tho they're worth 50x more than their house cost. Think of it this way, why plop down $10mil for your dream house at anywhere between 1%-4% when you can keep that $10mil invested at a higher rate?

This jackpot is an obscene amount of money for anybody to be gifted. Real talk all I would want is 500k -1 mill after tax and I could build on that. All most of us really need is a do over, or clean slate to start fresh and make different choices for our lives. Maybe follow our passion, or dream rather than doing what is expected in this society.
