Pacers finally trying to rebuild.
pimp.gif

Question for you guys, do you think Danny Granger should be THE guy for them and try to build around.

Damn they might as well pick up T-Mac and A.I. now.

House was a nice pick up. Streaky shooter but when he's hot he's hot and he may become a consistent threat with James and Wade constantly driving. Open all day.

Zbo and grizz wzorking on extension. Smh

Now this is the guy i definitely dont want to keep. The smallest incident whether its offcourt or injury, he will be untradeable unlike rudy. I enjoy his production and all, but marc is more important and he needs to be extended before zbo.

But won't give Xavier Henry an extra $200k guaranteed.

His salary isnt that bad considering he is THE guy on the team today so they should be able to build a solid team with him being in place.  They need to look at the Houston Rockets model and go from there.  I dont get the Paul George pick w/Granger already in place, unless of course they unload him for building blocks.

Damn miami seems like they got the southeast division on lock

orlando after all the years and development they put into the team to become a contender is now gonna have to take a  backseat once again to our sunshine state rivals. Still like the magic's roster but miami is looking too deep to overlook.

If they're gonna rebuild, I might move Granger... He's already 27 and by the time they can put anything worth while around him, he's gonna be 30+ and entering his decline phase... But he's not the kind of guy that is going to attract other superstars and nobody wants to go to Indiana... Unless they overpay on the open market, free agents aren't going there...

Contract is very friendly... I would think they could get some decent value...

I think if they get they right deal either now or at the deadline, they should try to sell as high as they can on Granger.

The Pacers have some serviceable young talent (Roy Hibbert, Tyler Hansbrough, Brandon Rush) and $40+ million in expiring contracts (Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy, T.J. Ford, Jeff Foster and Jamaal Tinsley,

) so maybe they make a run at someone by the trade deadline next season to help Danny Granger.

Then again, with the selection of Paul George (and I guess Lance Stephenson), maybe the Pacers blow it up entirely. They're stuck in no man's land right now. Not bad enough to get high lottery picks but not good enough to make it past the first round.

Dirk, Pro, JPZ, progress on the book so far?

I'm about 140 pages in, solid so far, A+ if I were a Celtics fan.

Granger to me is best suited as the #3 guy.  I kinda like him in ORLD with D12, Lewis, and Jameer, I think he would do what Vince doesn't.
New York would be a good spot for him if they get an elite to put with Amare.

He's a skilled player, he just isn't one of those types to carry a franchise imo.

Knicks make offer to Lakers' Brown

The Knicks have extended an offer to Shannon Brown and are waiting to hear whether the Lakers' free-agent guard will take it or wait for L.A. to make room to re-sign him by trading Sasha Vujacic, two people with knowledge of the situation told CBSSports.com Thursday.

Brown, 24, played all 82 games for the champion Lakers last season and is weighing whether to join Ray Felton in the Knicks' revamped backcourt or give the Lakers time to clear the room needed to re-sign him. The Lakers didn't give all of their mid-level exception to point guard Steve Blake, so some of it is left for Brown. But that's not really the issue. The Lakers, as usual, are well into the luxury tax. So moving Vujacic's $5.4 million salary for next season would ease the tax hit associated with keeping Brown.

Brown's electrifying transition game would be a huge asset in coach Mike D'Antoni's up-tempo system, and Brown would have a good chance of winning a starting job after starting only seven games for the Lakers last season.

Meanwhile, the Knicks continue to explore trade possibilities and remain interested in Blazers swingman Rudy Fernandez, who is actively being shopped. In their pursuit of a deal for Fernandez, or perhaps Chris Paul if and when the Hornets begin fielding serious trade inquiries, the Knicks have a few more assets to offer than commonly realized. According to two people familiar with how the David Lee sign-and-trade arrangement was structured, the Knicks do not have to wait the standard 60 days before combining Ronny Turiaf, Anthony Randolph or Kelenna Azubuike with other players in a trade. The Knicks were still under the salary cap when Lee was signed and traded, exempting them from the 60-day waiting period, which applies only to players acquired with a trade exception by teams that are over the cap.

We have wingmen (that we're eventually going to trade) and a recovering guard in Azubukie. No legit starting SG. Not that Shannon Brown really is a legit starter.

Might give him a chance though.

I'm a fast reader, been reading it since you sent it over plus me and the lady stayed in a hotel in the city for 4 days this past week and she was out shopping during the day so I stayed and read for a couple of those days

Granger is a Good player to have as a 2nd option, but I wouldn't want him as the go to guy. Not the player I'd build around, especially when you mix in injuries.
