This applies just as well to my country, which has a parliamentary system and a wide variety of parties across the political spectrum. I think this principle applies to politics in general.
Also why this 2 party system is trash. But don't think that'll change in our lifetime

I have a few Bernie bro friends that need to read this. Collectively threw a temper tantrum, then took their ball and went home after he dropped out.
They're the type that socialism appeals to for all the wrong reasons though. They never lacked opportunity or resources--they're just legitimately lazy and unmotivated. Pursued degrees with a lack of employment opportunities (music performance, literary criticism, art history, etc.), never made any serious attempts at finding work in their fields, got dead-end jobs and stayed at them, and now won't shut up about student loan forgiveness. I made the mistake of getting one a job in a kitchen I worked in back in the day and it was a disaster. Absolutely no hustle or work ethic and it reflects in their political views. They'd rather sit around and wait for the system to change than even ATTEMPT to play the game and try to make it work for them.
Okay I'm glad I got that off my chest for the day.
