***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Any of y'all try to discuss this with friends? Granted, we grew up in South Central and politics aren't exactly popular topics in the hood. I was talking to my boy and his sister about this yesterday and his sister says she doesn't believe Ford cuz she's just tryna get some money and fame. I tried to explain everything and she says "I still think the ***** is lying. Just like they did Cosby." :emoji_face_palm:

It’s absolutely maddening listening to these old heads at my job claim that Cosby is innocent and that the women should’ve said something when the assaults occurred, and then a few minutes later they’re talmbout Kavanaugh is guilty and shame on the GOP for trying to dismiss her valid claims. Like yo, WHAT???!

So much of politics post-Trump has opened my eyes to the fact that a lot of people really are idiots. And not even from a political standpoint, either. There really are a lot of flat out dumb people out there with zero critical thinking skills and/or logic.

On a surface level, yeah, I’ve known there are dumb people out there. But this era has made it abundantly clear since it seems like people are more vocal about their opinions.

And I’m mainly talking about people who I thought weren’t idiots, or didn’t come off as being damn fools.

Excerpt:
The Democrats on the panel agreed on releasing all the transcripts that the Republicans wanted to make public, but unsuccessfully pushed to release several additional transcripts that had been withheld. Testimony from Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D, Fla.) and Dana Rohrabacher (R, Calif.) were among those not included in the release.

Excerpt 2:
The Senate Intelligence Committee is also probing the matter and remains actively interviewing witnesses. Randy Credico, a New York radio personality who was in contact with WikiLeaks, has been subpoenaed to appear before the Senate committee next week, according to a copy of the summons reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

The Senate panel is expected to release several more reports in the coming months on topics such as possible collusion; the use of social media and disinformation by Moscow; and the U.S. government’s response to the Russian campaign.

House Panel Votes to Release Transcripts of Its Russia Probe
Accounts of more than 50 interviews were submitted to intelligence officials for review
The House Intelligence Committee on Friday voted to make public the transcripts of more than 50 interviews conducted as part of a yearlong investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election—giving the public details of what key players in the drama told investigators behind closed doors.
The transcripts to be eventually released include some of the people closest to President Trump, including his son Donald Trump Jr., his son-in law Jared Kushner, his former attorney Michael Cohen and his former political advisers Steve Bannon and Corey Lewandowski.

The panel will ask for declassification and release of the interview transcripts. They will be sent to intelligence officials for review, who may redact passages out of national security concerns.
Intelligence agencies will act “as quickly as possible” to review any declassification request from the House Intelligence Committee, but the process is likely to take “several weeks or more,” according to a U.S. intelligence official familiar with the matter.

The documents also include interviews with top former and current government officials such as Attorney General Jeff Sessions, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, and former director of national intelligence James Clapper.

Ms. Wasserman Schultz was chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 election. The DNC’s emailswere hacked and released by people affiliated with the Russian government, according to intelligence agencies. Mr. Rohrabacher drew the scrutiny of investigators when he tried to obtain a pardon for the founder of the website WikiLeaks, which released thousands of emails stolen by the Russians, The Wall Street Journal previously reported.

The transcripts also will offer a detailed look at a yearlong probe that began with a promise of bipartisan comity and quickly descended into partisan bickering. Democrats alleged Republicans were trying to protect Mr. Trump. Republicans accused Democrats of ignoring evidence that the Trump campaign was improperly targeted by spy agencies and law enforcement for political reasons.

The committee was unable to reach bipartisan conclusions on any of the key controversies. Republicans on the committee issued their report in March. They disputed an assessment by the nation’s spy agencies that Russian interference was aimed at helping Mr. Trump in the 2016 election. Russian President Vladimir Putin later acknowledged that he wanted Mr. Trump to win in a bid to improve relations, though Mr. Putin has denied any Russia meddling.

Democrats issued a blistering report of their own, saying the investigation had failed to explore key issues and call important witnesses. They have continued to mount their own probe without the support of committee Republicans and have suggested that they will reopen the inquiry if they retake control of the House in the November midterm elections.

Two other investigations into Russian interference are continuing.

In addition, special counsel Robert Mueller continues to probe whether any criminal laws were broken during the 2016 campaign. Mr. Mueller’s investigation has netted several convictions or guilty pleas from close associates of Mr. Trump, though none involve collusion with Russia. The president and Russia deny any collusion.

Always classy, my friend.

“it is our job to make his pattern of revolting behavior clear—piece by painful piece.”

- Brett Kavanaugh

The question that's been bugging me lately.

What do republicans think is going to happen at the end of all this?

So after grabbing Merrick Garlands seat they nominate, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and let's say RBG dies, and they nominate Amy Comey Barett.

Then the Supreme Court completely dismantles unions, basically destroys all government regulatory agencies by axing Chevron deference, they kill Obamacare and basically all other attempts at socialized medicine, they remove all limits on campaign financing, kill any civil rights enforcement, increase restrictions on voting, and the deliver on verdict after another in favor of capital.

an then to top it all off they kill Roe v. Wade.

What happens then? Is it really gonna be sweet? These things are unpopular and are opposed by much of the country, do you think you can have a stable society when like a few billionaires and the 33% of the country that's in their thrall destroy liberal democracy?

America is in for some scary hours. imo.
