***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Mr. Trump said he believes members of the news media will eventually cover him more favorably because they are profiting from the interest in his presidency and thus will want him re-elected.

“Another reason that I’m going to win another four years is because newspapers, television, all forms of media will tank if I’m not there because without me, their ratings are going down the tubes,” Mr. Trump said, then invoked one of his preferred insults. “Without me, The New York Times will indeed be not the failing New York Times, but the failed New York Times.”

He added: “So they basically have to let me win. And eventually, probably six months before the election, they’ll be loving me because they’re saying, ‘Please, please, don’t lose Donald Trump.’ O.K.”

:lol::rofl:

After the interview, Mr. Trump walked out of the Grill Room, stopping briefly to speak to guests. He then showed off a plaque that listed the club’s golf champions, including several years in which Mr. Trump had won its annual tournament. Asked how far he was hitting balls off the tee these days, Mr. Trump, who will turn 72 next year, was modest. “Gets shorter every year,” he said.
Only honest moment the man had in the entire interview.

I'm not the biggest Amazon sympathizer but Trump touch on something I absolutely hate about how the Post Office is viewed.

THE POST OFFICE SHOULD BOT BE RAN AS A PROFIT MAXIMIZING COMPANY

IT SHOULD BE TREATED AS A UNIVERSAL SERVICE THAT IS ALLOWED TO RUN IN THE RED.

Furthermore it should be used as a jobs program for unskilled workers, and should be transitioned into a low (to no fee) banking option for the public. One that provides low interest, low fee, short term loans for poor folk. Save poor folk from these payday loan finessers.

It’s his voters that will be ****** if they move this way  He really doesn’t understand that it’s in a losing situation because of rural deliveries not urban.

While I don't disagree, I think the the government lowering the standard for hiring wouldn't be an efficient way to run a government agency with such a huge workload.

I think a lot of the reason these agencies aren't able to meet minimal standards in a lot of cases is because, in a lot of ways, government (both city and federal) already act as and are used as jobs programs for unskilled workers.

the post office has been in debt for years...amazon threw them a bone...

"Moreover, at the end of fiscal year 2015, USPS had about $125 billion in unfundedliabilities and debt, most of which were for retiree health and pension benefits. USPS continued to have $15 billion in outstanding debt—the statutory limit."

When I saw unskilled what I mean is people that have not had a formal college education or specific job training. But these people can be trained. I have advanced degrees and my workplace will had to train me on how to do some of my job. That happens in many professions. Plus we are not talking about complex work.

I am not attacking you famb but Everyone, especially liberals, especially black people, need to stop acting/believing like a college degree or even previous training needs to act as a entry fee to enter the land of economic security. Screw effiency, the left need to worry and equality.

We can train a ton of folk, to do a ton of jobs, and then most importantly, give them work. If and when we overshoot, then we can then worry about effiency.

Expansion of the federal workforce can give a ton of folk Economic security, and mixed diversity hiring and affirmative actio, a ton of minorities economic prosperity.

Yeah it is pretty funny since I believe the USPS package delivery service is a money maker. Amazon being plugged into their last mile services most likely makes the USPS a good bit. Letter delivery, and especially rural services is what they lose money on.

These Trump Stans rural states finna cheer on him screwing them over....again. :smh:

-And to keep it 1HUNNA, if black folk we're mainly in rural areas, and poor whites in urban areas, the USPS rural services would be cut.

I get you. Job training is definitely necessary for those who aren't as privileged. But on the inside of a city agency (which I admit is very different) the expectation on the local government to use these agencies almost as job training programs has caused a lot more issues than it's helped. My agency has very low standards for hiring for certain positions, and it shows in the service that people get. As it is, the USPS isn't sustainable in it's current state, and I honestly think it's too far gone to restructure and adjust for the future.

But I admit there are tons of differences between the Housing Authority and the Postal Service.

But while I think about it, our budget for training has been cut to nearly zero. And on top of that, there are tons of positions at my job that don't require a degree. If there is a sweeping standard that all USPS employees must have a college degree, that's a huge problem.

It's a great idea, I just don't think our government or the USPS is in any position to do anything other than slowly die.

But like you said, that could have everything to do with the USPS being run as a profit maximizing company. This is clearly where the issues lie and what put the Postal Service in this position behind the 8 ball.

My mother was a pretty well respected social worker for 30 years and I just had to teach her how to generate and send an e-mail. A f****g e-mail

And that's not even the half.

So I get what you're saying. High school kids, college kids, people in between jobs, etc should all be suitable candidates for PO jobs to pick up the slack.

You'd think after all of us went to college and racked up debt to match our degrees but working jobs way outside of our degrees for much less pay people would have adjusted their views on "You HAVE to get a college degree"
