***Official Political Discussion Thread***

This is really it. Most white dudes I know mostly roll their eyes at the Trans stuff. But they are all completely convinced that they have the toughest path towards success. They hate this stuff in the workplace.

They *hate* programs that try to identify and promote talent among women and minorities. That view it as fundamentally unfair and non-meritocratic. Like every white dude I know - even the “liberals” - have an example of someone who got where they are “because they are…”

So if you want white men (and their wives) back in the leftist fold, you’re going to have to accept that we’ve seen the high water mark for gender and racial equality. They get annoyed by a black little mermaid, but they are moved to action when they think someone is getting what they deserve.

At this point, I think that it’s probably the right trade. The political left needs to stop defending these programs, stop talking about wage gaps, stop doing anything that angers white people. Because, in the end, there are way more of them and they can achieve whatever outcomes they want democratically. The Civil Rights era is completely over. Hopefully, we have enough people in the right places that we can continue to progress silently through informal networks. Because if we don’t voluntarily remove those programs, “centrist” whites are going to caucus with their Stormfront style racist brethren to do it anyways.
At this stage, what kind of country do people wanna live in if this is a takeaway?

If this was heeded to, the country would've never gotten through slavery honestly let alone Jim Crow if the fear of angering white people was peoples primary motivating factor politically :lol :{

Sounds awfully defeatist for non-whites, basically 'accept nihilism because nothing can ever get better because of white people'. Don't think that's a winning outlook or strategy long term

i agree its corporations covering their ***.

but who are they covering their *** in fear of?
Progressive cultural elites.

people I think accurately look at this as cynical bs to appeal to the sensibilities of a college educated class.
They are protecting themselves from lawsuits.. it’s always money

Just over the "don't blame the people who didn't vote, blame the democrats for not having a good platform"

Like why can't both be blamed? Why can't we look at people who sat out the election as just as at fault for Trump being elected as the Democrats. We all knew the game right? Kamala wasn't perfect, it was ok to say she was better then Trump but not an ideal candidate. Where is Herm Edwards? "You play to win the game!"

People out here with a fake moral high ground "i couldn't vote for Kamala". But you realize that gives Trump an edge...."well my conscious won't let me vote for Kamala so I am not going to vote". Play to win the game! Thats what the republican's do every year. Say whatever, promise everything, who cares get the votes. But you need your fake moral high ground ok i get it.

Dems have gone all in on progressive minority identity politics, and they are losing minority votes.
every election they lose more minority votes.

you can dismiss donald trump as white identity politics working
but he did try to appeal to black voters, he did tried to appeal to latinos.

and he assembled a multi racial working class coalition. it worked.

I agree something’s not working but I don’t agree fully the root cause is minority identity politics. I’m sure it plays a part for some people on the margin cause they can’t see the forest for trees cause get so bothered by certain types of people. But I don’t think trump really built a real multi racial coalition. 74 mil voted for trump in 2020 it’s about 72 mil right now. He maintained his base and won enough people on the margins that seems more significant than what it really is because 10-15 mil people that voted for Biden didn’t vote for kamala and that is skewing how much he actually expanded gained. They didn’t switch to trump if they did the numbers would show that but his popular vote gonna be about the same he didn’t win people over and built a real coalition a massive amount of dem voters just didn’t show up like last time. Which is a massive problem that needs to be addressed.

Wonder if the liberal mob is gonna whooo ride to DC like the republican mafia did back in January 2021

So many people miss this point. I have to do plenty of those types of things in my job and I don't like them and I get why people don't like them.

But people conflating these with being "woke" or because of people pushing a progressive agenda have it completely wrong. These are corporations covering their own ****** from potential lawsuits so that when Billy Bob in middle management decides to throw a "Fried chicken and watermelon cookout", they can say "We gave you the training" before firing him.

This is it. And I tell this to many of my friends. Listen, this is not meant for us. This is meant for the idiot who has no common sense and is racist, grew up with no diversity, etc.. and ultimately what you said, it’s to cover the corp so they can let go people that are too dumb to understand that.

Would love to see actual proof of the national or even state level democratic party insisting on 'latinx'

DNC 2028: Bend the knee to the fragility of white men.

Hey if it works it works I guess 🤷🏿‍♂️
Yea this can’t be the answer either you’re right. At a certain point they gotta own some responsibility to keep the main thing the main thing and not let some annoyances be a good excuse to do nothing or be apathetic.

okay well cleary telling people this doesn't work.

what now.

people get to vote. and people seem to not like this stuff. telling them "oh don't worry about it" doesn't seem to be working.

Not even joking, party need to become agist and set an age-cap for the leadership roles.

We've gotten decades of evidence of the septuagenarian not nearly equipped or capable of meeting the challenges of the moment and tomorrow or even understanding many of them (like climate change, cyber warfare, AI, tech company regulations etc).

Can't have the long term party course set by people with little skin in the game and completely disconnected from everyday Americans realities.

If it's a thing for numerous roles/occupations, why shouldn't it be for one of the most important functions such as public office?

There's BROAD bipartisan support for this as well so it's not some lefty pie in the sky fantasy. There's even majority support for the same with SC justices.

The events of the last 4 years should ring on home the importance fresh energy and ideas being needed moving forward

The civil rights movement doesn’t actually happen without support from liberal whites. Heck, slavery is still a thing without support from liberal whites.

What I’m saying is that the equality movement has moved so far that it’s lost most liberal whites. No one was arguing in 1850 for mixed race marriages or a black president.

I think laws and such about outright discrimination are safe. And likely a lot of very hostile work environment stuff too. But micro aggressions, targeted recruiting, and DEI probably need to go.

I’m not saying racism is over and equality has been achieved. I’m saying we need to moderate our goals enough for any progress to be tenable.

20 (or probably even 30) year old me would me disgusted - so I get it.

So, what's up with the vitriol and rhetoric online coming out of some Democrat supporters going after minorities and pro-Palestinians, and unleashing anti-immigration rhetoric? It is like the Blue MAGA of Democrats. It is indistinguishable from Trump's MAGA crowd.

They are protecting themselves from lawsuits.. it’s always money

Exactly. To think that these massive HR and legal departments are trying to save them from progressives is just silly.

Old, cranky white guy gets passed up on promotions, here's your age training.
A black or brown guy gets called a slur, here's your racism training.
Religious person feels excluded cause of their religion, here's your religious training.
Some guy makes jokes he heard on a bro cast about women, here's your sexual harassment training.
Etc etc etc

They look at the data and the lawsuits and respond accordingly. Now because racism and sexism are far more common than say age based discrimination, these suits happen more often and people who can't think logically or are inclined to see "woke" then place the blame on the libs and the progressives.

The natural conclusion is that the lawsuits should stop. That Connor can throw all the “****** brunch’s” on taco Tuesday that he wants to.
Apologies to the moderators. I didn’t think that would be on the naughty list.

I guess as a Chicano (LatinX male?) I should be happy it is.

I think people should continue to run on their principles. I don’t agree with “Let’s abandon minorities”as a plan. We still have our local and state elections to think about.

I just don’t think that people should believe that it will someday become a highly popular platform nationwide, and IMO Democrats winning elections will always take some type of miracle.

Minorities are people who at best are allowed to live here by the majority. They’ll never be on completely equal standing. This is true everywhere on earth, not just here. We can talk about our rights as citizens all we want, but none of that matters to the majority at the end of the day.

DNC 2028: Bend the knee to the fragility of white, black men, latino men, non college educated men, non college white women

you want to make this a white guy thing,

but this stuff doesn't seem to win over anyone other than college educated white women.

I think people should continue to run on their principles. I don’t agree with “Let’s abandon minorities”as a plan.

the plan is not "abandon minorities"

the plan should be LISTEN to minorities. they don't like it either. Dems are losing more of the minority vote every election.

I am not seeing as much criticism against Joe Biden and Democrats for throwing Kamala under the bus to be the bait, taking too long to replace Joe, and then putting a woman of color to take the fall with only 4 months to campaign. That's also racism and misogyny at play.

American women are not ready for a woman President is the only conclusion that needs to be drawn. They stayed home for Hilary and stayed home for Kamala.

Can I say I told you so. We (the Democratic always reliable 80%-90% voting democratic base) knew that if they didn't vote for Hilary, they are not voting for Kamala.
