The NBA Draft Thread

I dont think you get Dunn if you get Simmons. Just makes more sense to get a shooter to go with Simmons. Now if we draft Ingram by some crazy chance THEN getting Dunn makes alot of sense. I personally like that 2nd duo more than the first but theyre both good

Yup. If you have Simmons, you can draft Murray who can still bring the ball up but his main job will be to shoot from outside. Simmons can be the playmaker in halfcourt.

If you pick Simmons then you have to go into it knowing that you need to build around him like LeBron and surround him with shooters all over. You put him with a bunch of guys that can't space the floor and the results aren't going to be as good.

So basically gut the entire team around him now. That seems like a bit much.

^ That's why I'd lean towards picking Ingram #1. He's more of a natural fit with what Philly has now.

Simmons might end up being the better player but you don't have to build a specific way with Ingram.

I mean I see why they would do it, the pieces they do have in Saric, Jah, and Noel at least could fetch enough shooters around him to make him Bron lite. But that is a lot of talent you're giving up for specialists and then still depending on a guy who hasn't played in a NBA game yet in Embid to be that other franchise piece. It's a risk, but obviously it's Philly they're def not an attractive place for free agents right now so they really have no choice.

it's the Sixers there is nothing to gut

1 or 2 of the big men will be traded regardless, Simmons is the pick

teams that win 10 games don't need to be worrying about fit

They're the 3rd worst team in the history of the NBA. Picking for fit instead of BPA (who doesn't happen to be a center), is one of the dumbest things I've heard.

I'm taking the best player on the board no matter the fit..This team is in no position to be drafting for fit right now...I feel Dunn can be a better NBA player than Hield and Murray...I'm taking Dunn and figuring the rest out later.

Murray is a better player than Dunn IMO

I think his ceiling is higher

there are also potentially 5 top 10 PG's next year in the draft

You don't need to gut anything....you trade Okafor for the Celtics pick and grab Murray, sign or trade for a point guard and sign or trade for a shooter at SF. Boom...good to go.

How are you going to trade for said shooter or effective PG without getting rid of the other guys? Unless you think said guys are lining up to play in Philly.

Exactly. Not rocket science. Also, it's not like this team is going to be competing for a championship in the next couple years anyway...

Lonzo Ball
Markelle Fultz
De'aaron Fox
Frank Ntilikina
Lonzo Ball
Edmond Sumner
Dennis Smith
Frank Jackson

All potential lottery pick PG's in 2017

acting like the Sixers will go from 10 wins to contender next year by drafting for fit

this team is 3 years away from contending at minimum

Trade Jah for #3 and take Murray, maybe Noel too, let Embiid show he can play and is healthy, they will be drafting high again next year with maybe 2-3 lottery picks and I can also see them making a move for Dennis Schroder who they had a lot of interest in at the deadline but couldn't agree on a trade

Why would guys not want to play with Simmons, Murray, Noel/Embiid and Saric with Hinkie and the tank strategy gone and Colangelo opening his wallet and MDA being one of their coaches? It's honestly a really attractive situation. There would be no pressure on any free agents to win right now and they could get paid big and play with really talented young players that could turn into stars really fast and make them contenders sooner than later.

Sixers are going to have to overpay for FAs if they want them now. I don't see the rush in doing that though. Like I said, they aren't going to be competing for a championship any time soon. Let the young guys develop for a couple years and then make your move.

The same reason they won't want to play with a lot of other young players, if you're any kind of marquee FA, you want to go to a situation that allows you to get the best chance to win. It's why the Lakers also will have trouble even with 60+ mil to attract guys, but at least there's the advantage of being in LA. MDA by all intensive purposes is still the front runner for the HOU job so he is likely gone and pretty much every team in the league has max money this and next summer. I'm just saying if you have to trade for guys, you're going to have to get rid of more assets than just Jah. Boston isn't giving that pick straight up I don't believe.

If Simmons was Bismack Biyombo age than they could be contenders in the east

Boston would definitely give up just the 3 for Okafor...
They are in the position of leverage, if y'all want the pick to grab a PG, they can dictate the terms. That's always how it's been.

Okay.....but then we could still trade him to somebody else and then the Celtics are stuck with overpaying Jared Sullinger to come back or giving up every good player on their team and every valuable draft pick for Cousins.

There's two sides to this.
