I can't wait until Thursday now...
Xavier Henry's team plays there Thursday night, too...

Double header FTW...

Don't %*!* around and get a high maintenance wifey. I haven't been able to catch a full college basketball game in a week. The 2nd half of theTexas/Villanova game is the most I'll have seen since MSU/UNC.

What's the word with Curry? Was he clangin' all over the place? Dicky V said Sonya was cringing at every shot her lil man missed tonight

Dude shot the air outta the ball tonight...

And yeah, Mrs. Curry was doing a LOT of cringing... Not Steph's best night...

Maybe cause of how good he was at St. Patricks I expect more, but Corey Fisher has had an underwhelming start to a career thus far.

Bad night for the Big East. No shame in the 2 losses...but, still..people are gona start to talk. And to that I say, just watch the basketball in the leagueall year. I hate to sound like an SEC football fan tho
laugh.gif

And just me or are Earl Clark, Damion James and DaJuan Summers all mirror images of each other? It'd be interesting if they all leave this year.

I'm not even going to get into all the details and %@*% about this Nova loss. Like allen said, "Typical Nova Game".

I will say that watching Curry in person, you can just tell that he has the "IT" factor. I mean dude was 1-10 from three at one point, yet you alwaysknew that once hit that first three in the second half that he was goin to take over the game.

Only good game tonight is Gonzaga/Washington State....and I don't see it anywhere on TV (tmay?)

Indiana/TCU are on ESPN2...but yeah..

Tyreke Evans has been good in his debut season.
John Calipari and the Memphis Tigers need him to bebetter if they have any hope of a return to the glory of the past three seasons that saw the Tigers win 104 games and reach two Elite Eights and the nationalchampionship game in succession.

Memphis' Tyreke Evans is off to a strong start in his freshman season.

So the coach rides the kid. This is what Calipari said after Evans scored a season-high 24 points in a 100-61 rout of Marist: "Iliked how Tyreke played. He messed with the ball about three of four times, opposed to every time. So, the rest of the time he scored, got to the rim."
Getting to the rim is never a bad strategy. It's an even better one at the moment for the 6-foot-6 Evans, who to this point is struggling mightily fromthe perimeter (4-of-20). He's a better outside shooter than he has displayed, but he also has the ability to put the ball on the floor and score in avariety of ways.

Memphis is 5-1, with games coming this month against Big East teams Georgetown, Syracuse and Cincinnati. If it's going to win at least two and perhaps all three, it will need Evans not tomess around.

Through games of Monday, Dec. 8:

1. B.J. Mullens, Ohio State
Season averages: 6.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg
Mullens has yet to play more than 20 minutes in a game, but he had 11 points and seven rebounds in just 18 minutes in an upset of Notre Dame.

2. Jrue Holiday, UCLA
Season averages: 10.7 ppg, 3.6 rpg
The Bruins are off to a rocky 5-2 start, with Holiday scoring in double figures in every other game to date.

3. Demar DeRozan, USC
Season averages: 9.8 ppg, 4.4 rpg
DeRozan has scored in double figures in three consecutive games and shot 15-of-31 during that stretch.

4. Brandon Jennings, Lottomatica Roma
Season averages: 4.9 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 17.3 mpg
Jennings is starting only occasionally and he hasn't played a lot of minutes recently in his first season as a pro in Europe.

5. Scotty Hopson, Tennessee
Season averages
: 9.6 ppg
Through seven games, Hopson has scored in double figures three times and is averaging 20.6 minutes.

6. Tyreke Evans, Memphis
Season averages
: 16.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 3.8 apg
Evans has struggled from the perimeter (20 percent from 3-point range), but otherwise has been one of the most impressive of this group so far.

7. Al-Farouq Aminu, Wake Forest
Season averages
: 12.3 ppg, 9.0 rpg
Aminu had his worst game in the Demon Deacons' last outing, with five points and six rebounds in a win over Bucknell.

: 13.3 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 2.4 bpg
Monroe is shooting 63.5 percent and, if anything, isn't taking enough shots in JohnThompson III's complicated offense.
9. Samardo Samuels, Louisville
Season averages
: 16.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg
Samuels is shooting 65.5 percent but has only one game with more than six rebounds.

10. Willie Warren, Oklahoma
Season averages
: 13.5 ppg, 2.8 apg
Warren is playing big minutes (29.3 per game) and has scored OK despite a woeful display from 3-point range (25 percent; 9-of-36).

11. Devin Ebanks, West Virginia
Season averages
: 6.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg
Ebanks played a season-high 27 minutes against Cleveland State on Saturday and responded with 10 points, 17 rebounds, three assists and three steals.

12. Chris Singleton, Florida State
Season averages
: 9.7 ppg, 8.1 rpg
The Seminoles have no complaints about Singleton's work on the boards, where he has reached double figures four times already.

13. Ater Majok, Connecticut
Season averages
: Yet to play
Majok has not been cleared by the NCAA, but the Huskies expect he will be when they return Dec. 15 against Stony Brook.

14. Kemba Walker, Connecticut
Season averages
: 12.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.0 apg
Walker remains a pass-first point guard who has attempted only 13 shots over the past four games.

15. Ed Davis, North Carolina
Season averages
: 9.4 ppg, 8.8 rpg
Davis was a solid contributor while Tyler Hansbrough was out and has continued to score and rebound.

16. Elliot Williams, Duke
Season averages
: 2.6 ppg, 2.2 rpg
Williams is averaging only 13.6 minutes per game and hasn't played much except for blowout victories.

17. Ty Walker, Wake Forest
Season averages
: 1.2 ppg, 1.2 rpg
Walker has been the least used of the big three in Dino Gaudio's prized recruiting class, playing only 5.0 minutes per game.

18. Terrence Jennings, Louisville
Season averages
: 2.7 ppg, 2.3 rpg
Jennings hasn't played much in a crowded Cardinals frontcourt.

19. William Buford, Ohio State
Season averages
: 6.6 ppg, 2.6 rpg
Buford made a major contribution in an important win over Notre Dame with nine points and no turnovers in 24 minutes.

Yancy Gates is averaging nearly 10 points a game for Cincinnati.

20. Tony Woods, Wake Forest
Season averages
: 5.4 ppg, 3.4 rpg
Woods has played in all eight games for the Deacons, providing frontcourt depth.
21. JaMychal Green, Alabama
Season averages
: 7.6 ppg, 7.4 rpg
Green has been solid on the boards, but he hasn't scored in double figures in any of the past five games.

22. Yancy Gates, Cincinnati
Season averages
: 9.6 ppg, 5.4 rpg
Gates had 16 points and seven rebounds in a big win at UNLV and followed with 11 points and four boards in a win over UAB.

23. DeQuan Jones, Miami
Season averages
: 3.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg
After scoring seven points in the season opener, Jones has yet to score more than four in a game.

24. Delvon Roe, Michigan State
Season averages
: 4.7 ppg, 5.0 rpg
Roe's contributions have been minimal as he works his way back from knee surgery and his minutes are limited.

25. J'Mison Morgan, UCLA
Season averages
: 3.8 ppg, 1.3 rpg
Morgan hasn't been called on much, averaging just 7.0 minutes per game.

Is that supposed to be a list of the top freshman? If so, how is Darryl Bryant overlooked? He is averaging 9 and 2 off the bench.
Decision expected soon on Syracuse University basketball player Eric Devendorf

by Nancy Cole/The Post-Standard

Wednesday December 10, 2008, 6:00 AM
What are the alleged violations?

The following are sections of Syracuse University's Student Code of Conduct that SU basketball player Eric Devendorf is alleged to have violated Nov. 1, according to an SU Department of Public Safety report.

Section 1: Physical harm or threat of physical harm to any person or persons, including but not limited to: assault, sexual abuse, or other forms of physical abuse.

Section 2: Harassment, whether physical or verbal, oral or written, which is beyond the bounds of protected free speech, directed at a specific individual(s), easily construed as "fighting words," and likely to cause an immediate breach of the peace.

Section 3: Conduct which threatens the mental health, physical health or safety of any person or persons including hazing, drug or alcohol abuse, and other forms of destructive behavior.

Section 9: Disorderly conduct including, but not limited to, public intoxication, lewd, indecent or obscene behavior, libel, slander or illegal gambling.

Section 14: Violation of any federal, state, or local law which has a negative impact on the well-being of Syracuse University or its individual members
Syracuse, NY -- A Syracuse University judicial hearing board is expected to issue a decision by Thursday on the fate of Eric Devendorf, the SU basketball player accused of hitting a female student in the face.
Devendorf, 21, participated in the team's practice Tuesday at the Carrier Dome. He testified last week before a university judicial board to answer charges that he violated the university's Student Code of Conduct during the alleged Nov. 1 incident. That board has until Thursday to issue a written decision.

The university's fall semester ends Friday, the last day of scheduled final exams, according to SU's academic calendar.

Devendorf is charged with violating five sections of SU's Student Code of Conduct, according to an SU Public Safety report.
http://
Kimberly Smith, an SU junior, said that Devendorf hit her with the heel of his hand in the lower right jaw about 3 a.m. Nov. 1 in the 900 block of Walnut Avenue. Smith, 20, encountered a crowd of about 10 to 15 people walking towards her car, making it impossible to continue driving, according to an SU Department of Public safety report.

Smith stopped driving and several people in the crowd began kicking her car, according to the SU report. A Syracuse Police Department report states that Smith's 2007 Hyundai Elantra had a small dent on the driver's side and a larger dent on the passenger side when officers got to the scene.

Smith said she got out of her car to find out why people were kicking it when Devendorf called her a %#$#, told her to get back into her car and struck her, according to the SU report. Smith said she did not know Devendorf but knew some of the other people in the crowd, which is why she got out of her car.

Devendorf was gone by the time police arrived.

William Sullivan, Devendorf's lawyer, has said that Devendorf was defending himself from Smith, who he said was the aggressor. Devendorf raised his hand to defend himself, Sullivan has said.

The SU report states that Smith was distraught and shaken when public safety officers arrived but did not appear to have any injuries and refused medical treatment.

The university has standard sanctions in place for some student conduct code violations, according to SU's Judicial Affairs web site.

For violations involving physical harm or threat of physical harm without a weapon resulting in little or no physical injury to the involved persons, standard sanctions include:

* disciplinary probation, suspension, or indefinite suspension;

* participation in an anger management program;

* if alcohol or other drugs were a factor in the incident there could be a referral to SU's Options Program, an alcohol and drug education, referral and assessment program run through SU's Substance Abuse Prevention & Health Enhancement Office;

* 80 hours minimum of community service and/or other educational sanctions as deemed appropriate.

SU spokesman Kevin Morrow would not comment on whether those are the standard sanctions for violating Section 1 of the student code, which is one of the codes Devendorf is charged with violating, according to the SU public safety report.

It has been reported that Devendorf is already on university probation, which could up the ante if the hearing board decides he violated student code Nov. 1. Sullivan previously would not comment whether Devendorf is on probation.

There are several types of probation listed on SU's web site, including academic, social, residential and disciplinary.

If Devendorf is already on disciplinary probation, the judicial handbook states that "further violations may result in immediate suspension, indefinite suspension, or expulsion from the university."

Devendorf, of Bay City, Mich., and Smith, of West Henrietta, testified during Thursday's hearing, as did several other members of the basketball team, including Justin Thomas, Paul Harris, Rick Jackson and Arinze Onuaku.

The Onondaga County District Attorney's Office has interviewed Smith, Devendorf and witnesses about the allegation. Any further action by the DA's office will be deferred, pending the outcome of the SU hearing, according to Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick.

Either party can appeal the decision within five university business days of the receipt of the written decision. The University Appeals Board has 10 university business days to review the written appeal and render a written decision. It can modify the decision, reverse the decision or order a new hearing, according to Morrow.

Tomorrow's the big day.
