Speaking Monday on The Jorge Sedano Show on 790 The Ticket, the 33-year-old journeyman guard said he would welcome the opportunity to revive his NBA career with what he considers his hometown team.
"I've talked a lot about it with my agent and my family," the 6-foot-5 defensive stopper and 3-point specialist said. "Miami is my first choice. If there would be any interest from the Heat I would give it a ponder. It's my home town"
A native of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Bell was raised in Miami, attending three high schools there.
The 10-year veteran was dealt early last season from the Charlotte Bobcats to the Golden State Warriors, but played only six games in 2009-10 due to a partially torn ligament in his left wrist. He was released in March by the Warriors and is an unrestricted free agent.
Over the weekend:
Dime: Are there any teams that you are considering in particular?
RB: I’d obviously like to play for a winning team and win something. I got two boys and a wife and our home base is Miami so anywhere up and down this east coast would be a great fit for me.
Brian Shaw Visits With Cavs About Head Coaching Job
Jun 28, 2010 8:10 PM EST
The Cavs met with Brian Shaw on Monday. Shaw is a candidate to fill Cleveland's vacant head coaching position.
The 43-year-old Shaw spent five seasons in Los Angeles on Phil Jackson's coaching staff.
Shaw is expected back for meetings on Tuesday.
It is believed that no offer has yet been made to Shaw who may be the frontrunner for the Cavs' job.
Mike Brown was fired from that job shortly after the Cavs were eliminated from the playoffs.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports continues to bring new information to light about the power moves unfolding within the inner circle of LeBron James.
With James' free agency imminent, members of his crew are jockeying for position wherever the superstar plays next.
None more so than William Wesley who, writes Wojnarowski, wants James out of Cleveland and to a new city where his own control would expand.
"If LeBron leaves, Wes is going to get carte blanche wherever he signs," one source said. "He’s going to have the run of the place, and he doesn’t have that in Cleveland. He has access there, but Maverick Carter is the guy with the keys there. …[Carter’s] much more influential, and would always be in Cleveland."
Maverick Carter and the other high school friends of James would seem to prefer him to remain in Cleveland where their spheres of influence are well established.
"No one cares about those guys walking around in Chicago or Miami or New York," one league executive told Wojnarowski.
Carter controls certain people in the media and plants the stories he wants reported. Last week Chris Broussard quoted Carter in a story breaking news about how James was cancelling plans to visit the cities of the teams interested in signing him this summer.

Toronto Raptors general manager Brian Colangelo told 590 AM radio in Toronto Mondaythat he thinks forward Chris Bosh will sign elsewhere this offseasonbut he hopes Bosh will do a sign-and-trade with his new team.
"I think it's likely he will leave, the question is will he put usin a position to benefit from a sign-and-trade scenario that could nethim the most money and us something coming back," Colangelo said.
"There's so much out there right now," added Colangelo. "(Bosh) isgoing to wait for probably LeBron (James) to make a decision and theneverything else is going to happen."
"Anybody that says they know what is happening, is nonsense. I dofeel like I have an insight because I've had a chance to communicatewith Henry Thomas (Bosh's agent) and with Chris Bosh over the lastcouple of months about various other things. But it's not like anyoneis sitting here with any information that those individuals themselveshave shared with anybody."
Sunday the New York Times quoted an NBA executive who believes Bosh will sign with the Chicago Bulls along with LeBron James.
Colangelo added that Bosh has declined his 2010-2011 player option. That option if exercised would have been worth $17.149 million.
