Both my parents were in the military and they pretty much knew when someone was gay or not after being around them long enough. I don't see why its such a big deal. Granted, I could see the military housing alot more anti-gay people than many other professions but still, its long overdue.

I don't know what to feel, which way about it.  Because it should be us over them (to clarify, I mean our opponents) everytime when it comes to American soldiers.  I am just curious if this is going to open up lawsuits from the gay community against the US armed forces.

Are gay people citizens of this country?

Then they should be allowed to serve as who they are...

The only people who have a problem are those who can't handle it because they are intolerant..
QFT.

And there have been folks who have come back from the desert saying the same things at two of our largest bases: Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Fort Hood, Texas.

What many people on the outside don't realize is that the longer this war goes on, the fatter those soldiers' pockets get.  Now please don't get me wrong: I understand that what goes on overseas leaves an indelible imprint upon the temperament of those who go over there to protect our country.  But the only reason a lot of soldiers liked Bush's way of doing things was because they knew that if they could just make it back home, they would get out with a great deal of money in their hands.

Again, I hear what you're saying, but this is what I've heard from someone working for the government at an army base.  And hearing it time and time again only makes me feel like it's as true as anything.

As a person, yes... As a politician, I voted for him, campaigned for him, and defended him. I'd love nothing more than support him.. But this guy is appeasing Republicans way too much. He needs to drop the Bipartisanship line because it is @++$!#@+ when Republicans hate him.. Let it go, and do progressive agenda. Go to the left not the center right on everything..

I understand your feelings.  But what you don't see is he doesn't appease the Republicrats.  He has locked them out of all forms of negotiations and only is changing his tone because he lost his super majority.  And his progressive agenda and moving farther left, which he wants this country to do, is exactly why voters in Massachusetts said no and voters around the country will.  The majority of Americans want to get back to the basics and fix our economy, end these wars (while protecting ourselves from terrorism).  They don't want to move to a progressive socialist America.  Tonight he sunk his feet in the mud and could very well come back to bite him in this years elections.
lol...The polls of Democrats/Independents who voted for Obama and either stayed home or voted for Brown say 100% different... But no point of bringing those up because you will never cease the argument. It's ok

lol, the polls huh?  And what polls are these and how many were polled. Well, the numbers speak otherwise; a highly Democratic voting state said otherwise. I know you like to spit talking point rhetoric on NT, as yourself just said you campaigned for Obama.  And if you mean never, ceasing the argument, as just taking your word for fact because you said so... o.k.

Wow, MSNBC is a joke. Instead of actually having a substantive analysis of the republican response, they instead choose to talk about how no one knows him, and how there were no recognizable in the crowd.

They cater to their audiences. Same with Fox. Nothing new.
I was watching fox during their analysis of Obama's SOTU address and they actually touched on things like the tone of the speech, topics he touched, and how that might influence his agenda for next year. They went over things they didn't like and things they did like. It was obvious that they had a conservative bias, but at least they tried.

MSNBC basically surmised the republican response by saying " I don't know who you are so I'm not going to listen to you".

They're carefully placed, along with the white woman and man in the military to try to appeal to as many groups as possible and to look more diverse.
Do the Republicans even care that they are so transparent in doing things like this?

It's getting past the point of being a joke...it is moving towards being just down right sad...

and whats wrong with that? They don't care.

At least W. used to crack me up with his struggles with basic English. This one makes me want to throw something at the TV.

And the audacity of calling out SCOTUS -- Chief Justice Roberts was not amused by Barry's passive aggressive little swipe. Perhaps he should learn his place and remember simple concepts like "separation of powers."

As for the troops in Afghanistan, go read the Eikenberry cables at the NYT. The ambassador in Afghanistan is saying more troops won't do any damned good

That was sickening.

At least he has his rhetoric down pat. I'll give him that much.

They're a news channel. They should at least attempt to be impartial, provide an analysis, and let their viewers form an opinion.

I can tell you watch a lot of late night cable news so I'm really not that surprised that you don't find anything wrong with that.

Come on man................ Don't tell me you think Fox is even remotely more partial or even as partial as MSNBC...

The Republican response was a Produced Joke.

Instead of done in the backroom of an office they recreate a Mini State of the Union so people can fake Clap?

They strategically place two lil Black Kids and a Black woman and Asian in the background?

The dude talks about Off shore drilling which the Pres already did?

Come on man. People aren't stupid.

Aren't you the same Party who made Palin your VP candidate.. oh yeah. Smart all around.

As for any responsible analysis, you go to the News Station where you want to hear what you want. Fox and CNN obviously are right side leaners. MSNBC leans to the other side.

Use your own thought Process for analysis I say.

Think about who you're talking about right now. If you or anyone else expected MSNBC to give a legit analysis of the Republican response, you're mental. I only watch FOX and CNN. If you want good feedback on the response, watch 1-of-the-2 news stations.
I realise that. I just find it funny how people talk about how biased FOX is when MSNBC is just as bad if not worse. I watch all three networks regularly, and I wanted to watch FOX for analysis on the Obama's speach and MSNBC for the repub response. I was just surprised at how crappy Olbermann's analysis was.
