I swear these conservatives being sounding like scumbag me when I was 19. Insincere talking points and struggle gaslighting.

Like when I cheated on my girl, and the other chick sent a pic of my asleep in her bed at 4am. I had the audacity to look my girl dead in her eyes and say she had no right to accuse me of cheating just because of that pic. That I left the a house party drunk, and I drove to her place because it was close and I didn't want to hit the highway and put my life and the life of others in danger. So I went there to take a nap and sleep off the liquor. I didn't sleep on the couch because my sciatica.

She didn't believe me, I acted outraged that I don't care about me and other motorist, she still didn't believe me, then I acted just as bewildered as DWalk, then she punched me.

The rest of the story involving me, her, and a unfortunate Xbox gaming console, has already been told.

She probably hit you with the righteous indignation right hook. BEAUTIFUL.

Populism born from the poor and middle class wanting a fairer deal doesn't wreck countries. The socialist systems they but in place don't wreck countries. It is the poor governance by proclaimed Socialist politicans that wreck countries. They are either thievies, or too rigid ideologically so the mismanage their economy. Venezuela is a perfect example of both happening at the same time.

Populism born from racial and ethnic grievances definitely wreck countries. Best case scenario people support tearing down their Democratic institutions and social safety nets to inflict damage on minority groups. But end up hurting everyone. Worst case scenario you get ethnic cleansing.

Sure all movements need healthy checks, but Trump's populism is a different beast and way more dangerous.

How I will admit that not matter the variety, populism makes people fall in love with leaders to a unhealthy degree. When that happens, the future of your country really relies on you character of said leader. I think that both Trump and Bernie got supporters that are really lost in the sauce and don't know which way is up. However Trump's base is much larger, and way more dangerous. On the flip side, Bernie movement is making people, most importantly young white men, buy into intersectionality and multiracial coalition building. Frustrated young white men could be taking out those frustrations in much more dangerous and problematic ways.

I don't know Chavez in Venusula wrecked that country. Populism is in some ways the main flaw to Democracy because yeah people can be manipulated to vote in Tyrants.

I also don't think Bernie's supporters are similar to Trump supporters save for the fact they are both cult of personality campaigns. Also, both make very big promises that will be difficult to keep. Both are running as being outsiders of the established system of their party with a promise to turn inward and "clean the swamp" or "start a revolution". Plus looking back at the tea party and occupy Wallstreet (which rumors after they both dissipated being that they were both funded by Russia) and how they evolved into supporters of both Trump (Tea Party) and Bernie (Occupy)...... I don't know, there is enough smoke to make me open to the possibility of there being a legit fire.

Who do you think sent the picture? 👀

It's all classified! But once the election is over, it's magically no longer classified. Trump effectively self-snitched on abusing classification to benefit his re-election campaign.

Wasn’t Bernie’s campaign preferred by Russia back in 2016, per the Mueller Report? Not sure why anyone is surprised that it’s happening again now. And I’m not implying that the campaign accepts it, btw. It just makes sense that Putin would do so, both in 2016 and now.

Exactly unlike Trump who never saw a crime he didn't like. I don't think Bernie or his campaign supports this. I do think them being in charge of America would at the very least put Russia in a better position from a realpolitik standpoint. Bernie would have us fall back internationally and even domestically his "Revolution" could cause chaos as conservative politicians (who are more fanatic than liberal politicians) have massive hissy fits.

Populism didn't wreck Venezuela. Chavez and Maduro being corrupt, thieving, incompetent pieces of **** wrecked the country.

Populism saved them from one hell, things were better for a while, oil prices ranked and clown governance.

But to circle back to your original point, yes, unchecked any populism and the leaders it brings to power are probably always gonna lead a country down a bad road. Bern will never get that dangerous because the Dems will check him.

Chavez wasn't that corrupt..... He was hella incompetent

Also, I am not saying they would govern using populism, but there campaign strategies rely on the regular themes of outsides vs. the corrupt powers that be, and basically power to the people. MAGA is a dog whistle just like the term Revolution.

You very well could have cheated or your explanation could be true. Though, based on the facts I would probably say your explanation is what really happened.

This is why I said there would likely be a lot of crossover between Bernie and Trump supporters

Reasonable people can agree to disagree.

What I find shocking is that she did not offer you due process, nor was she civil or respectful. That seems to be the real tragedy here.

she did you a favor. Wanted you to upgrade to a PlayStation.

He also endorsed and promoted Roy Moore, someone so racist that he openly made pro-slavery comments. Trump also blamed African-Americans for virtually all violent crime with an image of a 'gang member' next to the false statistics. He advocated for instituting stop-and-frisk as a nationwide policy.
His first Attorney General couldn't get confirmed as a judge in 1986 because he was deemed too racist. Unsurprisingly, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III did exactly what one would expect from a white supremacist. Trump's sole criticism of Sessions was that he wouldn't obstruct justice for him.

Just recently Trump awarded the highest civilian honor to Rush Limbaugh, who is very clearly a white supremacist. He shares that award with Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks.

Etc etc.

Because every 20th century decade from the 1920’s to the 1990’s had its own icons and distinct aesthetics and everything since 2000 is muddled, I consistently under estimate how long ago the 80’s and 90’s really were and how close the the 1980’s were to the events of the mid 20th century.

While 9/11 was 19 years ago, in 1986, MLK’s death happened just 18 years prior. While the Republican Party was well under way dismantling the legacy of the Great Society, they had to wait for the legacy of the civil rights era and MLK to fade with time.

The story of Jeff Sessions says it all. In 1986, the richest and most powerful white men in America, had to pretend to care about civil rights for non whites. By 2016 and beyond, it’s been mask off.

Nah it was clean uppercut.

She was walking away from me and I was stepping forward to grab her arm, stop her, and her a hug. In one swift motion ole girl turn pivoted and fired off the punch while I was stepping and bending forward. Had my neck snapping like...

Blagojevich, newly pardoned by Trump, compares himself to Nelson Mandela. He was convicted on 17 charges, including trying to extort a children's hospital.
