Trump pardons conservative firebrand who pleaded guilty to funneling $20,000 to a Republican Senate candidate through his mistress, saying he was treated 'very unfairly'

President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he will be granting a pardon to conservative filmmaker and author Dinesh D'Souza, who bashed President Obama and pleaded guilty to illegal campaign contributions.

'Will be giving a Full Pardon to Dinesh D’Souza today. He was treated very unfairly by our government!' Trump wrote on Twitter.

It will be his fifth pardon, having also granted pardons to conservative firebrand sheriff Joe Arpaio, former Bush administration official Scooter libby, and others.

D'Souza pleaded guilty in 2014 to funneling the campaign contributions to Wendy Long, his college classmate.
