People watch a lot of tv and think that AR-15 style rifles are rapid fire guns where you hold down the trigger and they fire non-stop... no. The things are just large and extreme looking. You get hit once by a .45 or anAR-15 style rifle you likely going to be critical. The rifle would have an accuracy advantage. That's about it. And that's only if someone knows how to shoot.

And capacity? I know next to nothing about guns but even I know that the standard AR-15 holds 30 rounds. More than the average handgun right? And 100 round magazines are available.

So, it’s more accurate than a handgun and holds more bullets and that’s not a more deadly weapon? :smh

Got that fool in my sights already....

The funniest part is expecting a teacher with limited training to do something while the guy who is trained to protect and serve ran.

Well it’s like the sheriff said last night. Okay you have a 9mm or a glock. You really going to try to take on someone with an assault rifle? Your range is 30-50 feet. His is 100 yards.

AR-15's and other similar semi-automatic assault rifles are more accurate and generally have higher capacity magazines. I assume in some parts of the country y'all restrict magazine sizes instead of the usual 30 round mag. All that can be modified of course. Handguns can use the same calibers but I would assume the average handgun caliber is lighter. Though I've only used them at a firing range obviously. I was pretty horrendous at hitting the targets with any kind of handgun whereas with the rifles I was able to get a lot more on or close to the targets and at significantly longer ranges. They are somewhat heavy of course and not the most convenient to handle but in terms of shooting it's not even close for me personally and the rifles win. I used an FN FAL and FN SCAR in the semi-auto rifle class.
Sidenote: Fully automatic weapons are dreadful to shoot with. Awful really. Judging by how hard it was to control and how wide the bullets went flying even in small bursts of an AK-47 I don't see any other purpose to them than just inflicting as much carnage in a general direction as possible.

I think part of the reason they were outlawed here is because you can't really make much of a case for owning one. Even our gun lobby strongly supports that part of the legislation and we're the home of FN Herstal. Most of our most famous firearms are ironically illegal to own in this country such as the P90. If you really want to use an assault rifle you can fire them as much as you want at a shooting range. You can legally have one if you qualify for a special permit as a special forces unit in law enforcement or are enlisted in the military with infantry combat training. While self-defense is one of the legal reasons you can submit for getting a firearm permit, in your hearing before the provincial firearms council for your permit it can't be the sole reason you submit for ownership. It must be accompanied by an additional reason such as hunting or sports shooting. The law states that the kind of firearms available under standard permits are plenty sufficient for self-defense if necessary. That generally means break-action shotguns and rifles with a very limited ammo capacity. Generally a capacity of 1 to 2 bullets. If you want a handgun you can only get one through a sports shooting license and it can only carry a maximum of 5 bullets.
Even if those kind of semi-auto assault rifles were legal no self-respecting hunter I've ever met would use them nowadays. It would practically be cheating at hunting given that we only shoot with break-action firearms that can only fire once or twice before having to load new bullets in the chamber. Throughout the years you occasionally hear some stories about hunting with more advanced weaponry in other countries. Disgraceful to the art of hunting imo.

I'm in grad school and one of my class is literally about heathcare policy. The more I learn the more I can understand both sides of the argument on healthcare. Interesting and eye opening. I've just started classes three weeks ago and I still have more to learn.

My Man gif.

I had an economics of healthcare class as an undergrad, it was great stuff.

How did I get personal? I didn't quote you, insult you, and my hypothetical scenario never happen to you. Right?

And I must ask you stop requesting pictures of me. It is starting to border on sexual harrassment. We are the #metoo era, do better friend.

But let us not have any hostility today. Matter of fact, I am bumping this classic song in honor of peace.....

One of the artists who did Informer is white, I didn't know until today, seriously.

I've loved this song for 20 plus years but I never saw the video. For years I'm picturing Brian Grant and instead it's young Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys. Still a great song though.

I love this fantasy people have that when **** hits the fan they're going to turn into Rambo and save the day.
This. This. This.

Like these idiots really believe we can become vigilantes if we're strapped. There were a few gang related shootings one street away from me and those gun shots had me sliding under my bed within seconds. If I was strapped, I'd be under my bed with my gun.

We have armed security at nearly every bank in the country, and that does not stop bank robberies. If you get the jump on someone, them having a gun means nothing.

Since the bigot and chief brought up video games, I think Americans missed the fundamental fact of gunfights that Call of Duty's gunplay is based on.

That if someone gets the jump on you, and they are competent with their weapon, you will die. Also every time you will die quickly, without even knowing what happened.

I swear conservatives think that regular ole Officer Dan is a mini Spartan from Halo. That no matter if he someone gets the jump on him, or is outgunned, that all he needs is a pistol and he can handle ****.

Master Chief is not walking through that door to stay posted outside of ya kid's preschool people.

u must've forgot about...

I remember it, although I don't know what your point is.

Are you suggesting that Norway has a bigger problem than US when it comes to school shootings?

God I hope not

That would be if I posted that the US has more serial killers and you retorted with "perhaps you forgot about Jack the Ripper."

Anyone else remember that lady that let da yappa sing on a home depot shoplifter? She missed the guy and was lucky not to have killed someone. Now imagine Slater and Preppy are exchanging hands and Ms. Bliss gets confused and lets da yappa sing killing Screech.

It is simple, he cant think of a school shootings so his next best comeback was using that terrorist attack and ignoring the word "school"

Then he wil just play dense and act like he won the argument. Never acknowledging the goal post move

And he will probably report me for saying this

If there is a profession where the literal definition of it is "collecting a paycheck," it is security guard. No ************ is jumping in front of bullets for $10.99/hr. The moment **** gets hot is the moment they call 911 and quit.
