***Official Political Discussion Thread***

American have a strong status quo bias

Conservatives changed the status quo, and handed the Dems strong political issues to look reasonable on

And to make matters worse, instead of just accepting they completed their mission of overturning Roe, and shutting up about it, so the new status quo to settle in and it became less impactful politically...

They are goofing some more by pushing for even more restrictive laws. Constantly reminding the public how extreme they are

This generation of Republicans are true believers. Their parents were just BS'ers and crooks; they only wanted tax cuts. This new crop of republicans won't stop until we all live in Americanistan.

I hear you and I agree.

But Trump still won and still a huge political force to this day.

Yes Biden being a White Male is great to stop GOP race baiting. We won in 2020 because Trump was having a lot errors and more people were paying attention. Biden was “polished” comparatively. Was that because of the campaign style?

When an incumbent runs for reelection the focus becomes on their term. For Biden what is the narrative?

Inflation, things are clearly more expensive than were during Trumps term. Logical people can rationalize Covid changes things but not all people are logical. All they know is s*** is more expensive.

And that Biden seems aged and doesn’t seem to have a lot energy.

What is the Democratic Party’s plan to combat that?

Tout BBB and the Chips Bill? It’s sounds great but what are the results? Biden and his team should go to every possible BBB site and talk about what’s it’s doing for the local area.
Trump won because there is nobody else worth voting for. He got the nomination not because he could win but get more money from stupid supporters that the gop are after.

these statements contradict each other

trump and a the GOP have created a perception

you have zero need to come here with that

maybe consider why he won.. the circumstances.. and try to figure out how the GOP could pull it off again

think of the last 2 republican presidents and how they pulled it off

and think of how things have shifted and what they have tried to do.. and if they have been successful

The perception that Trump a strong political force? There’s only 2 political parties if you are front runner in your party. You are strong political force.

Idk we can do political forecasts from the last 2 Republican Presidents? We probably should look at a larger sample size? Start with Reagan?

The general trend is the incumbent President is re-elected unless the electorate feels the country is trending in the wrong direction.

What has shifted?! The demographics?

republicans are well aware of the uphill climbs they face in elections which is why they do the things they do

and are trying to go as far as changing the rules

but that’s why they always try to create these boogeymen every election cycle (“migrant caravans”).. or the one you referenced “border crisis”

majority of people illegally in the US entered legally and overstayed their visa

the trans issue is another mountain being made of a molehill, as I mentioned world athletics has addressed the issue and I assume FINA will do the same

those sports are heavily regulated and it doesn’t take the governments of countries to do so

but republicans are actively trying to find ways to make it harder for people to vote

The Dems are going into 24 with more momentum than anyone pre Dobbs thought was possible. I am very pumped and hyped for the good guys. Simply put Americans want the status quo just like RustyShackleford RustyShackleford said. Republicans keep proving they want to wreck everything for everyone and that plays awful to the middle and even Republicans. Republicans never wanted Roe over turned , they wanted that carrot to con evangelicals to vote for them but that only works if the good guys and moderates don’t vote and the numbers game works in their favor. There are more of us than them No way a liberal Supreme Court justice wins in WIsky in a landslide if not for Dobbs. Republicans are attacking Disney, trying to bring up culture wars nonsense and the Trans community because they are trying to find their next “abortion boogie man” to keep the evangelicals in the game but alienating everyone else on the way. Once the debt ceiling proved once again that the Republicans can’t govern we will see even more momentum

Dude is wild

He is Uncle Ruckus-level goofy.

The Dem governor didn't want to run for the Senate seat because he is the Lieutenant Governor. And he was scared if he one, what ole boy would do to the state.

But mans might become governor in 2025, with a supermajority, and a far-right state court.

Dark times are ahead for NC.
