***Official Political Discussion Thread***

The fact that student loan forgiveness is even happening is amazing. It might not be at the levels some may want but that means it is up to us to vote for our politicians to get a more comprehensive forgiveness package through Congress. My wife worked in underprivileged schools for years and thanks to our President all of her loans were forgiven. She now has a new lease on life. This is why in 2024 we will vote for OUR PRESIDENT DONALD JOHN TRUMP. LFG.

It’s ok if you want to jump for joy at crumbs

Yep, you’re the type of clown my post addressed. Glad you could make an appearance.

The U.S. really does have some of the most ungrateful citizens lol. Dude just gave some debt relief to a grip of people, but it just isn’t enough. Mans hasn’t even announced it officially and folks are ready to tear down DEBT RELIEF THAT DIDN’T HAVE TO HAPPEN. Wild times.

Cancelling student loan debts isn't happening. Folks gotta stop day dreaming like the people that played the lottery last week

Having people in debt is a tool used to control the populace and make them obedient and less likely to rebel

Was looking up another post and ran across this. This take aged worse that Kellyanne Conway

I’m assuming your black as well so please don’t ever say that again to a black American

Republicans get elected and speak to nobody but their base / supporters that put them there while showing nothing but disdain, disrespect, and disregard for everyone else.

Democrats get elected and speak to everyone else while showing nothing but disdain, disrespect, and disregard for their base / supporters that put them there.

Republicans: Openly racist, xenophobic, prejudice, literally storm the capital.

Democrats: We need to reach across the isle and be bipartisan.

How you gonna be "bipartisan" with racists while walking around with hot sauce in your purse and claiming "You aint Black if you don't vote for us".

Admittedly I know nowhere near as much as you guys about politics.

What I do know as a common man / average voter is...the math and mathin.

How we got a "Space Force" before we got an "Anti Racism Bureau" is beyond me Fam.

Imagine you are a non college educated working class voter,
you already are drifting away from the democrats culturally.

you don't see how these arguments might sound compelling?
or atleast play on a sense of cultural grievance?

Fox News has already started, no need to help them with this "crumb" talk.

Dude you need to get acquainted with reality.

Life is unfair, the senate is unfair, rural malapportionment is unfair.

but it is reality. Republicans don't have to be bi partisan, the Democrats do.
you need to come to terms with that.

engineering democratic loses by ****ting on dem accomplishments
is not going to improve the situation.

I think people have the right to be both disappointed with the scope of the plan and support those that will receive a huge benefit from it.

Anyone who has a "forget you, I didn't get all of what I want"ed" mentality needs to to walk away and rethink their stance before rengaging in the conversation.

I just don't see after Joe Biden takes executive action, risk alienating swing voters and other parts of the Dems base, will get challenged in court by conservatives, that the main criticism of the Democratic Party and Biden is that they sell out their base to pursue bipartisanship.

If the electoral system was fair. The Dems would have over a dozen more house seats, six Senate seats, and never have to worry about losing the Presidential race to a hardcore conservative candidate

And they would be able to do more liberal policy

If the electoral advantage was flipped, Dems would be approaching Constitutional amendment territory.

And they could govern as progressives

But we don't live in those worlds, and people need to realize that. There is nothing wrong with wanting more, everyone should want more, but folk have to keep some perspective on what the political reality is.

Dems simply can't behave like the GOP in some areas to accomplish their goals. They don't have the political luxury to do so.

If you complain that the Dems don't norm break to try to deliver for some of their voters, then you should be ecstatic at what Biden did today. Not calling 20k crumbs. You come off as elitist to a ton of people moving like that

Then you sound extra dumb calling a black oerson in America ungrateful who’s only ever voted and supported democrats and is slightly unhappy more wasnt done

You’re allowed to be unhappy. But don’t hate on those who are happy. This helps a lot of people.

If you’re salty that’s cool and you’re entitled to that. But I’d try to look on the positive side of things. Again, this really does help a lot of people, especially black folks (w/ the Pell grant thing Rusty already alluded to). And if nothing else, hopefully this is a stepping stone to more education reform.

It's like folks forget that there is a significant portion of the country and in Congress that is against the idea of loan forgiveness.
