Disappointed if true. I don't care what he technically promised or didn't promise, this is not going to solve much. We'll be right back to the same table in 2 to 4 years.

I am happy though that this does help those on the cusp of finishing their loan payments.


Edit: the 5% cap for und see rgrad loans is nice, but how does that work if you consolidated both graduate and undergraduate loans? Does it only apply to undergraduate loans or can it extend further? Hope he explains TODAY and doesn't muddle through the next months.

And to all the bozos already talking about “this isn’t enough” and “this solves nothing”, go wash your face. This will help A LOT of people in this country. Is there more work to be done in regards to education in the U.S.? OF COURSE. But this is a start. You have to get the ball rolling at some point and this is that point. Hopefully more can be done to make education affordable for the masses in the near future. In the meantime, let folks enjoy this W.

Exactly. I’m happy that something was accomplished, but if folks think we’re supposed to be jumping up and down with joy over this they’re delusional. I don’t even care about the income threshold, but the interest is killer for a lot of folks.

Thats what matters. Get the ball rolling. If (big if) Dems retain the congress through this year, there will be a lot of opportunity to make actual reforms to how education is afforded in this country. This small start could lead to a major change.


But of course the short sighted and apathetic will hand waive anything short of making college free while eliminating 100% of student loan debt and crediting anyone that went to college in the past 30 years some high-5-figure check.
