**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

I really wonder how long people are going to do this thing or is it going to be like the Caruso thing where it gets brought up forever…

The story around Austin is weird. When he first made this jump it was a great surprise, Lakers got a big steal but now that he's not a superstar people take him for granted.

Makes no sense. No. He's never gonna be a superstar, might not ever make a allstar team but to get 18, 6 and 5 outta your undrafted player (who recently took a paycut) is GREAT.
He's on a great contract. AR getting paid 13 million, DLo 18.7mil, Rui 17 mil, gabe vincent 11 mil for comparisons. When your salary is capped, AR's one of the best bang-for-your-buck players. Unfortunately, Lakers still got some overpays that cancel out the good value contract

DLo might be the only Laker player I think that I’ve talked bad about, but even then when I was being serious it was at least reasonable criticism about his game. I do find it kinda funny how people trash guys like Gabe for example and then want to include him in trades for better players 😂

Even though it shouldn’t really matter all that much what fans say on social media I do think that it does to a certain extent.

Don’t follow gambling, and no one is saying this is exclusive to Lakers twitter but as one of the biggest fan bases in all of sports I think the volume of the noise will reflect that.

And it’s not really about the complaints, but for example to say “hey Gabe useless as dog poop… we should trade him and Vando for Brandon Ingram” is just silly

Patrick Beverley didn’t do anything for us, and D Lo is a bed wetter.

Did we trash guys like Lonnie and Malik? I really don’t remember

We liked Malik. Felt like we all knew he was leaving.
speak for yourself b

this malik was a bum
OFFICIAL: Malik Beasley is suiting up in the Purple & Gold

but yes, malik monk was leaving for sure, we could only offer x % higher than the vet min for another season before offerring him a bigger deal
he showed out and got paid now much deserved for him

Again it’s just silly… player isn’t performing well for your favorite team so you go to his social media page to trash him. That’s not really going to make the guy play better 😂

Overall I think we have the best fanbase in the league but there’s some that are doing a little too much… or maybe I’m just old school and don’t get this weird social media generation

If you play good here, we'll love you

If you are trash or inconsistent we will let you hear it.

Pretty standard Laker fandom

We don't sugar coat **** either.

In general I got no problem with the fan stuff… but the trade machine stuff is hilarious though.

Don’t think Pat literally meant GM’s are checking @AnthonyIrwinLA replies to gauge trade ideas 😂 but that fan reactions can influence a player’s reputation around the league. A lot of overreacting at times… a guy goes through a slump - he’s trash, or one of the worst players to ever put on a Lakers uniform and if a guy goes through a hot phase he’s untouchable in trade talks, the team is better off trading LeBron and building around him, etc.

What I kinda interpreted from that P Bev post was fans say things online (and in person), media picks up on them and amplifies those messages and it spreads around the league which can influence how guys are viewed. To what degree I have no idea.
