**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Bron literally watched him walk down the lane and score, then throw his hands up.

Don't mind me just here looking for those LeBron fans making excuses for him.
To be fair…

When I watched this play the first thing I noticed was that initially no one made any attempt to stop ball. And then this…

DLo is already there, Bron guarding the man in the corner but for some reason looks like Dalton doubled here and his man the trailer sprints down the lane for the easy basket. That’s not really on Bron imo

Bron should've stepped in the lane on that, but obviously that ball would've immediately went to the corner for a wide open 3.

The effort wasn't there last night. Bron and his teams usually do this when they're trying to prove a point and is usually a precursor to a trade. But not usually this early in the season and not this bad  His effort his been awful this season at times, but I get it, to a point.

This thread was opened in 2016.

We had DLo, Randle, Ingram, Clarkson, Nance Jr, and Zubac from the Mitch era.

In the 2017 Draft we chose Zo over Jason Tatum. We've fired like 5 coaches since then, but not the GM that did that. :lol

Maybe someday we will fire Kobe's agent.

Worst case, he's allowed to relax while we finish up the Bron retirement/father/son 82 games tour, and then is allowed to try to re-shape the roster AGAIN, post Lebron. :(

I'm not asking him to pick someone up from the baseline, but effort. I have seen him play for years I know he picks and chooses on defense, but these past couple of years he hasn't even put in the effort consistently. Move up to the paint and force the guy to make the pass, who is in the corner since Bron is guarding them. Good chance he isn't a good three point shooter.

Felt like Alfonso was more Magic’s choice more than anything.

But yea Rob’s had his chances. Bob Myers is literally available

I wasn't the biggest Lonzo fan, but he was a defensible pick. He was just a weird prospect because of his strengths/weaknesses.

Speaking of Lonzo....

Thinking he gets moved and/or bought out. Feel like CHI roster gon look completely different after the deadline.

Don't think they could sign him if he gets bought out because he makes more than the MLE.

But no way they should sign him this season. This team needs able bodies. Maybe next season when the dead weight is lifted.

Think it’s just time to blow it up. We can’t do much with an incomplete roster and management. Jeanie is gonna lead us into mediocrity for a really really long time.

The problem has been the roster ever since the Lakers traded away most (all?) of their defensive players for more offensive-minded players... I guess as an attempt to lighten the load on their aging superstar.

Been saying the same thing the past few seasons... they don't play hard every night, they aren't physical enough, and most of the guys on the roster aren't committed to (or capable of?) locking in defensively.

Too much emphasis on offense, spacing, etc...and I get it, but if the team can't get simple stops or rebounds then none of that really even matters.

JJ seems like a great media person... he knows what to say in front of the camera. But this team looks clueless defensively, and this switching strategy is basically suicide by a 1000 cuts. I think the offense might've LOOKED better at the beginning of the season, but all that dribbling around and doing three man weave handoffs around the perimeter only to finally start some action towards the basket after wasting 10-12 seconds off the shot clock is pretty pointless IMO.

Regardless, I'm not blaming him for the majority of this mess... same way I didn't blame the last guy and the guy before that LOL.

If he's smart though, he'd be much better off going back to some of the things that the last guy did... drop coverage defense, benching Rui until he commits to playing hard defensively, etc.

And for the life of me, I'll never understand this... AD/Lebron or Lebron/AD are the offensive focal points of this team. In no way shape or form do I EVER want to watch a game and see DLo, Rui, Austin or any of the other role players taking more shots than the Big 2.

Maybe...

I guess if there's a team that's willing to give a haul of young players and/or picks for AD then you have to do it, but I don't really see a team that are a player like AD away from contending and have the assets to get a deal done.

Otherwise, no one is really trying to trade for a $50 million dollar declining star who may only have another season or two left in him.

Honestly I just look at it this way...
  • Contracts expiring this season: DLo, Wood, Cam, Hayes, Max Lewis (partial guarantee...probably waived)
  • Contracts expiring next season: Bron, Rui, Austin (probably opts out), Bronny (LMAO, partial guarantee...probably waived)
No need to rush into any rebuild, this team's situation will naturally evolve over time... just enjoy what you can while it lasts.

I meant blow it up metaphorically. Of course we have not trade value in Bron, and with each passing season, it lowers for AD. I meant just give up expecting to be a trade away from improvement.

Think Bron has value this trade deadline with the Warriors, IF he wants a change. Dont think it makes sense to move AD yet. Maybe in the summer to maximize value.

Lemme mess around with the trade machine and see if I can cook up something that makes sense... just for fun of course.

I did already and it's kind of difficult because the Lakers can't take in more money in a trade and the Warriors are hardcapped too. But it can be done with a third team.

Things that will never not be entertaining for me:
#1. When Lebron has bad stretches, MFers who have hated him for the longest puff their chest out and go "See? He sucks."

#2. Laker fans who hated him in the purple and gold from day 1 doing #1 (That's where we're at now... again.)

#3. Anyone who belongs to 1 or 2 reading posts like this right here and responding with "OMG, another Lebron Stan! Get off his nuts!"

That last one is always entertaining to me because just like this post, nothing positive even has to be said about Lebron. 😂
I haven't said anything positive about Lebron in this entire post, but people who belong to #1 or #2 will feel attacked by a Lebron Stan instead of feeling held accountable for their emotional haterade.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
