LMAOso what do yall think about inflation? discuss
I think that we've come to the conclusion on this thread that while inflation is very real, Nike willpick and choose which shoes they will allow to be affected by that inflation.
Correct?
If that is indeed the case, while inflation is simply an influencing factor, it is indeed not the determining factor, especially when it comes to a price increase, the usage of quality materials, and then getting a well made product coming from Nike. All that really matters, is if there are a bunch of suckers ready to part with their money.
Did I get it right?
Whatever broke boy. Keep complaining about a few bucks increase. Maybe sneakers aren't for you. Try a cheaper hobby. Inflation is real. Air max's are now 200 bucks. Lebrons are 200, some are 250. Sneakers are popular, but economics is constant. Stay in school.@AKsuited
Mad? Because ur a smart dummy? Not at all... I'm laughing... Not with you... At you! Now y'all changing ya tune from it's entirely due to inflation to its a lot of different factors... Which is what I have been saying the whole entire time! Then when someone begs to with differ with y'all OPINION y'all turn into JB reps... Your pathetic internet know it all demeanor doesn't faze me one bit BRUH! I don't care what you say... Your sense of logic is minuscule!
Yup. So true. Some kids will never learn.
your picking and choosing shoes you cant do that.. there is ALWAYS going to be an exception to the rule, but the price overall of sneakers has risen overtime not just Jordans.. i mean air max 95's are 159 dollars... air max 2014's are 179.. flyknit air maxs are 225!!!! brons are 200 dollars, KD 7 are 150..
Someone confirmed this a month ago, I think. It'll be lucky for people who have smaller feet (like me), because the retail is lower than men's sizes. What we really need to talk about right now is the change of sizes about GS and men's sizes. Mostly because I don't want to read 9 pages to find out so...fact or fiction this will be happening?
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'll believe it when I see it. There is no way in hell a size 9 will be a kids shoe. I just don't see it happening. And they'd be losing out on a LOT of revenue.

not really.. the general price of ALL sneakers has gone up.. I remember back int he 90s when dropping a 100 dollars on a pair of sneakers was a big deal and you had to be rich to do that..

so you buy in to the fact Nike is using the "latest" technology in Lebrons thus a higher price but Don't buy into the fact that "remastered" jordans are higher quality thus a higher price tag?I actually graduated in 2002 and if being smart enough to know these Jordan's that retro over and over aren't worth $200 is called being "broke" these days then I guess I'm broke! And as far as these air Max and lebrons ect. That you speak of... I believe they are equipped with nike's newest latest technology... Hence the price tags... I see you take much pride in being a smart dummy!
I have already felt this way.. Long are the days I used to snag every retro that released.. now I am much more selective and only get stuff I 100% want, and try and limit myself to one pair a month. My thought is the price increase will slowly deter people from buying each and every retro and will make them pick and choose which one(s) they will want to buy. This will make Saturday mornings more palatable for the consumer since things won't sell out so quickly and the demand won't be as big. Also if these are similar to 2000 retro tham count me in. I played 3 years of basketball in my 2000 VIs and they never lost a beat.
Very true and well said and i understand making shareholders happy but to what extent? to the point where right now they make good profits and then in the future they tarnish their name so much that they arent #1 anymore (but who would beat them?). I dont see this happening but for us to get what we want we have to show the company that we arent happy and let resellers sit on their products and then after they calm down we let JB sit on their products, i know its a process but if we are patient now we can get what we want because WE pay their bills not the other way around. too many thirsty people out there with the mentalities of "its only $10 more" or "they havent released in 10 years so ill buy regardless" and JB knows this and puts out trash because people buy it, bottom line is take a stand if you want better prices or quality and until then if you dont like the prices or quality but keep buying releases anyways then you will never get what you want. I cant wait for things to change but it will either be a good while or will never happen. Not singling you out but there are so many wrong things being said in this thread.
1. Nobody said that the price increases are due to inflation only. We have been saying it is a factor in the price increase
2. The people talking about inflation (me included) have also been saying that Hype and Nike's kick *** marketing team, have played into the price increase as well
3. Comparing another companies product, or another product does not mean anything. All these companies are faced with inflation, but the company ultimately decides how fat or slim their margins are going to be. Reebok is not in a position to put out high priced products. They need to first try playing catch up to Nike then worry about fattening the bottom line. The way Reebok can fatten their pockets is by attracting new clients and loyal ones, THEN hit them with the price hikes. The dont have a choice but to compete with better products and cheaper prices.
4. Nike as a public company needs to care about their shareholders FIRST. The stock price, the dividends, are all based on revenue and thats what matters in corporations. Its short sighted, its wrong, but its reality. Nike is the same as BP - maximize your profit. If that means letting the customer eat the inflation, lessening the quality of your product etc. so be it thats just how it works. Ever bite into a twinkie and wonder why when you were a kid there was more frosting inside of it.. COSTS and PROFIT.
5. As someone else pointed out. You dont like it you vote with your wallet. When the Board of Directors and shareholders see that profits are dropping, they will question why. When it comes out that people are upset with quality, then things will change. Until then nothing will happen.
Folks in here need to understand that its not a simple answer. If it was we would all be handed our masters and economics degrees just by reading this thread.
Damn.
No need to buy into it... you can see and feel the difference in a 1985-1999 pair of Jordan's and a pair of 2014 Nike sigs! ... BUT... I DONT BUY lebrons kobes or KDs either.... Nike's basketball shoes these days are made more for performance rather than casual wear... I prefer Nike Retros... particularly from the 90's! And NO I would not pay "a little extra" for "better quality" or "Nike Air" or any other bullcrap that should be there in the first place! I mean Jordans dont excite me like they did back in the day! Like the way some folks are about these Jordans is crazy... For me its like been there done that!
so you buy in to the fact Nike is using the "latest" technology in Lebrons thus a higher price but Don't buy into the fact that "remastered" jordans are higher quality thus a higher price tag?
but in your post before you were justifying the price of the newer model lebrons, kds, and kobes with having new technology...

So wait a minute, are you telling me that the high quality retro's that both Adidas and Reebok both have, and then are continually putting out, are more expensive, even though the pricing shown in the old Eastbay catalogs are the same as they are today?

now people drop 250 like no problem..
I kind of agree. I mean i still buy jordan retros but if i miss a release oh well.
Every retro jordan nowadays i have to swap insoles and pray the wooden leather breaks in somewhat.
They are cutting corners on materials and quality when they should have been maintaining the quality all along with the price hikes aka inflation

It seems that some are cherry picking facts, in order to support their favorite brand.
Over the past few years, there has been a steady increase in Nike/Jordan pricing, regardless of the economic climate.
Are you really telling me that I should not expect top quality footwear, in a one hundred seventy dollar sneaker?
You are enititled to your opinion and I never justified anything. I was saying the newer sigs don't appeal to ME casually as they seem to be made with all this new tech thats supposed to be for premium on-court performance. All this flywire, VacTech, Plastic crap with they are made with instead of leather makes them look cheap and unappealing to me. If you don't understand what I'm saying oh well... Its obvious we dont think the same.
but in your post before you were justifying the price of the newer model lebrons, kds, and kobes with having new technology...
and I think more people who buy lebrons and kds, and kobes are wearing them casually not on the court.
It seems that Joe Hypebeast controls the interests of many in regard to Nike, because both Reebok and Adidas do an excellent job with their retro lines. Not a hoops shoe, but the Adidas Stan Smith, especially the recent Pharrell x Adidas release, has top quality leathers being used, and then for a buck fiddy no less.We do expect the top notch quality for 170, but unfortunately Joe Hypebeast out there doesn't. Which is why the price is 170 and nothing changed. Adidas, and Reebok don't have that luxury right now, mainly because the demand is low for their product in comparison to Nike.
However, at least JB has realized to some extent that what they have put out pales in comparison to the Originals. And they are at least giving us quality leather. They were going to raise the price anyway. So at this point, we either stop buying all together, or pick and choose what we really like.
