In Huang's World Episode on Toronto and how diverse it is there, he spoke to some Chinese Jamaicans that live in Toronto now and the guy said something along the lines that he's Chinese by Heritage, Jamaican by birth, and Canadian by choice
i had no choice being born in NY  and in US

I only want him to at least acknowledge he has African ancestors.

The 2010 Census asked if the person was "Spanish/Hispanic/Latino". The United States Censususes the ethnonym Hispanic or Latino to refer to "a person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race."[37] The Census Bureau also explains that "[o]rigin can be viewed as the heritage, nationality group, lineage, or country of birth of the person or the person's ancestors before their arrival in the United States. People who identify their origin as Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish may be of any race."[41]

The U.S. Department of Transportation defines Hispanic as, "persons of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Dominican, Central or South American, or other Spanish or Portuguese culture or origin, regardless of race."[1] This definition has been adopted by the Small Business Administration as well as by many federal, state, and municipal agencies for the purposes of awarding government contracts to minority owned businesses.[2] The Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the Congressional Hispanic Conference include representatives of Spanish and Portuguese, Puerto Rican and Mexican descent. The Hispanic Society of America is dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of Spain, Portugal, and Latin America.[42] The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, proclaimed champions of Hispanic success in higher education, is committed to Hispanic educational success in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Ibero-America, Spain and Portugal.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commissionencourages any individual who believes that he or she is Hispanic to self-identify as Hispanic.[43] The United States Department of Labor - Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs encourages the same self-identification. As a result, any individual who traces his or her origins to part of the Spanish Empire or Portuguese Empire may self-identify as Hispanic, because an employer may not override an individual's self-identification.[44]

just because it's da da da da da first pic doesn't mean it's da da da reality of it. you probably think all africans are alike. it just goes to how you perceive africa. it goes to show how you envision it and why you don't feel a connection. te lavaron el coco y sos un retrasado. seems like you are just waiting for someone to slip so you can report them. you prefer to report people instead of answering the question concerning how you view your skin color.

edit:
also you are citing an article that relays on self-identification, not scientific facts. just goes to show the sources you point out to sway your argument.

What does definitions of an ethnicity have to do with acknowledging an ancestor.

What does definitions of an ethnicity have to do with acknowledging an ancestor.

da problem is "AN" is its a singular. Latinos have Ancestry from Spaniards, Tainos, and blacks all in one, which turns us into a distinctive blend of people, which identifies as its own thing.

The whole point of the census is to further divide folks.

The census once had "negro" "black" and "african american" on it.

Per the .gov
Note: The estimates are based on the 2010 Census and reflect changes to the April 1, 2010 population due to the Count Question Resolution program and geographic program revisions. Median age is calculated based on single year of age. Hispanic origin is considered an ethnicity, not a race. Hispanics may be of any race. Responses of "Some Other Race" from the 2010 Census are modified. This results in differences between the population for specific race categories shown for the 2010 Census population in this table versus those in the original 2010 Census data. For more information, see https://www2.census.gov/programs-su...odified-race-summary-file-method/mrsf2010.pdf. For population estimates methodology statements, see http://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/popest/technical-documentation/methodology.html.

According to the census....the majority of "hispanics" are counted as WHITE.

and there inlays the point. nina refers to a system that promotes division. it's funny how he talks about unity yet is distinguishing himself from his ancestry.

I thought you just told us "blacks" meant African-Americans specifically. So what period was it exactly when Spaniards, Tainos, and "blacks" decided to start mixing it up?

It's not definitive acknowledgment from you but I'll take this. Peace.

Why is Ninja’s skin darker than Bartolo Colon’s ? They’re both Dominican.

His name isn't "nina".

There is much ignorance in this thread. Folks trying to define something that they themselves don't have a clue about. Each person grabs on to some idea that they think makes sense, be it from random paper on a subject, idiot on instagram or youtube, or a radio show host. Africa is not the only place people with dark skin have come from. We can not say with certainty the exact migration routes that were taken at various times of history. Times that preceded even the slave trade. But everyone with a keyboard is now an anthropologist.

I'd love to see some dna tests posted for many of the these experts both on social media and NT for that matter.

Final thing. Posts have been removed for throwing insults. Next ones get the poster a ban from the thread altogether. Have the discussion. Disagree. Tear each others arguments apart with legit counterpoints. But when you get to the point you start insulting the other person you have long lost the argument. Take the L and move on if you don't have a constructive way to disagree.
