People really blaming the 20 year old??!
this woman had decades of experience on the force plus being a union president AND she confuses what weapon to use on a 20 year old and some of yall in here are blaming the 20 year old
we regularly see videos of guns, others weapons and force being used AND some people are going blame the 20 year old for acting out of fear
we just saw video of an army lieutenant in uniform admit to fear and do everything he is allowed to do according to the law AND still get a weapon used against him AND the police lie about it in the report

The kid was old enough to be trusted to make his own decisions for about 2 whole years. The cop had more years of experience being a cop than the kid had years of experience being a human.
The onus to handle the situation appropriately is somehow on him though?

Nobody is perfect. Every situation is different. Buuuuuuuuuuut no matter how many times you inform someone about "keeping hands visible and complying" with law enforcement, there should NEVER BE A LIFE LOST. A proven intent to harm a police officer should only be the course of (re)acting aggressively towards a victim could be acceptable. Even at that, killing or shooting is uncalled for.
Ultimately!!! Even if I dont cooperate with police, my Worst case scenario shouldnt end in death. Pigs need to be properly trained from the beginning.

And if so, 9/10 the cop goes home smiling Scott free eating warm apple pie with the family while the victims Mother is making funeral arrangements & crying her hear out with no justice being done. Therefore, she had no reason to use lethal force.
