this is why women shouldn't be cops. patrolling the streets. in a physical confrontation with a man you are in a HUGE disadvantage. when losing a confrontation means the end of your life, every women will panic (rightfully so). i also think men who are out of shape and unable to handle a confrontation shouldn't be cops either.

this dude and others killed by cops were not modeled citzens, but this does not mean they deserve to be shot in the streets. everyone in america (including cops) needs to be held to the law. this means they should be punished in the court of law, not in this streets at the tail end of the gun.

i ran away from the cops/resisted many times as a teenager. i lived in a affluent neighborhood so cops knew their place. your race/gender/social and economic status plays a HUGE role in how your treated in the court of law. don't let anyone tell you different.

Your comment has some sexist undertones in it but I’m going to let it rock. Women are just as capable of handling high stress situations. But lack of training especially physical and hand to hand combat is the real issue. The amount of female vs male cops who have assassinated our black men are not even a tangible metric yet.

Most of these killings are as others pointed out rooted in innate racism, fear of a minority disobeying them, lack of training, secret fetishes of wanting to kill someone, and being out of shape.

Another issue is that police have no integrity which results in them not policing themselves. If they would start holding themselves accountable and take pride in upholding some level of standard this could be minimized also.

Police seriously need to focus on physical training, take away lethal weapons and get rid of these multiple infraction officers. They also need insurance on them that jeopardizes their pensions, career and pay. Police officers need to also live where they serve and the requirements need to be Re-evaluated.

Because we live in a country that was built on racist ideals, laws and practices.
That is the reality. That's why we have to teach our children how to interact with police.

I do wonder/question if the likelihood of a police officer pulling the trigger increases as that officer's size/hand-to-hand combat skills decreases.

I say that to say maybe there is something to being in a high stressed situation as a smaller man or a woman that would cause that individual to pull the trigger more quickly.

Physically, there should be more demand for in-shape officers.

But that only deals with the physical and not the mental.
