i've already admitted that there's no excuse for the incompetence that the cop displayed.
but, ya'll want to be naïve to the fact that son controlled his own destiny and could be in jail instead of the morgue.

maybe i'm just numb to it.
my intent isn't to be insenstive.
i've been racially profiled enough to the point where I know what the deal is.
i literally live my day to day with the intent of never requiring police aid/interaction regardless of the circumstance.
i've been hit with the air freshener routine,
the obstructed plates routine,
and pretty much any other thing these cops can think of to engage a young black man for the sake of meeting quotas or simply top profile me.
at this point, if any action that I take results in me encountering the police, I am just going to take my L rather than let any mannerism or action on my part be considered reason for them to escalate the situation.

black and brown people are policed differently. this is fact. we all know this by now.
I don't have any outrage to waste on an individual who's thought process led him to believe that trying to evade the police would result in the situation ending favorable for him in 2021.
instead of trying to gain points on a sneaker forum, teach the black and brown men within your proximity to use their God-given intelligence and live to fight another day.
nothing you say, nor any fake outrage you display on here is going to miraculously change things or bring this kid back.

Nothing Daunte did on this day justifies him being dead, NOTHING....we can’t go trying to find ways to justify this cops actions in the slightest, because that means we are now starting to accept a world where cops are free of any consequences at all and that is when we hand over our freedom to them....this shouldn’t be written off as normal behavior for police officers, EVER....because the next victim can end up being one of us or someone we love....and if it was someone I loved, I wouldn’t give a damn if they freaked and moved the wrong way during their interaction.

I agree with what you said regarding nothing justifying him being dead.
you seem like a level-headed individual so I genuinely ask:
if you had Black children would you advise them to behave as this young man did during this interaction?
again, what he did doesn't justify him being shot..i just literally want to know if you would condone behaving in that manner if that was your child.

26 year veteran trained officer can't tell a gun from a taser. 20 year old should have known better.
