Bars making rules to not allow black ppl in unappreciation

Minorities definitely have it the worst. But no matter who you are, if doormen perceive your dress as influenced by "hip-hop" you will face some level of discrimination.

My boy used to do this (white), rock shorts and sneakers and limit our choices, used to piss me off but i'm not ditching my dude. Glad he grew into this whole suit phase.

Plenty of bars and clubs do this. You weren't the first to be discriminated and you won't be the last. They'll have their black quota for the night and then at the door turn away for reasons like your hat and shorts or raise the entry fee for those that look to go over the allotted amount. Our money is good enough to buy their booze and food, but its our music and way of dress that causes fights and other trouble at these establishments.

I don't think dressing like an adult designates someone an adult.
Basically what it comes down to.

You claimed it in your last post. You didn't say this?

"I can understand if you're chilling with the homies and you wear a fitted, but if you go out, you should dress like an adult."

Obviously that implies that a certain style of dress designates someone as an "adult".

I don't think dressing like an adult designates someone an adult. Does the toddler who wears a suit to a wedding mean to be an adult? Do I mean to be a child when I am wearing shorts and a tank top to the grocery store?

My point is, when you go out to a restaurant/club/bar/lounge, don't wear a fitted and shorts that go to your calves. Dress like you care. I've never said anything about that standard being European pant suits or shopping at Bergdorf Goodman or wearing small-fitting clothes. You sound like you have some issues with the way certain groups of people dress. My standard of not looking like a clown simply entails not looking like a clown when you're out. I'm not specifying what people should be wearing because I think there are infinite ways to look respectable, and like an adult.

I don't know if you're on some counter-culture tip where you're promoting people dressing like clowns to be subversive, but I think all parties gain when people leave their fitted caps and calf-length capris at home when they're out at a dining/hospitality establishment.

All I can do is comment on your posts. I can't read your mind. You said these things, not me. I sound like I have an issue with how people dress? :lol You are clearly the one who has an issue with how people dress. You are calling certain people 'clowns" because they don't dress like you or how you feel people should dress. You believe that there should be a dress code and that certain dress styles are attributed to adults. What exactly does "dress like an adult" mean? It means that you want people to dress in a way that you personally feel makes them an adult when they go out. You are the fashion police here, not me.

Sounds like there are some people on NT who equate "dressing like an adult" to rocking corporate attire or something along those lines :{

Exactly what it is. If you wear sneakers past your college years, you're still a kid, etc.

Not even that, man, they equate actually "being" an adult with how someone dresses. :{ Some dudes on here are so superficial, that they consider someone who still lives with their mom, and spends all his time online studying how to dress GQ, an "adult" as long as they wear upscale clothing.

the law of the land is always going to be that white people get preferential treatment over black people, it's just the way it is.

if you're gonna dress to go out clubbing, dress in good taste.

i see grown white men on the train everyday with suits and sneakers on. What are you talking about?
Reading comprehension FTL. I was saying that's the mindset of some on here that think that you are mature by wearing suits, corporate attire and ditching your sneakers.

It doesn't personally bother me, but it should be known that almost all clubs ban fitteds, plain tees and shorts these days.

So, I went to to the bar last night to see an old Freind that was in town last night and after I give the bouncer my i.d. He asks me to turn around and then tells me that I can't get in because my shorts were too long and that I wasnt able to pull them up. I then go to the black bouncer who let me in the night before with the same shorts, then the original bouncer comes up and accuses me of pulling up my shorts because apparently they were alot longer earlier. The place is so crazy they wouldn't let me in with a fitted and then 3 white dudes all come in with fitteds behind and when I ask the bouncer snout it he says they're cool because their brims are bent and not flat. These fools even have the nerve to have the dresscode on their website saying no Jerseys, no stocking caps or du rags, like somebody is gonna try to wear that crap in there. I've never been denied entry into anywhere in my life. Im very tight about the situation. Just had to get that off of my chest
Am I the only one who's wondering:

1. Why the hell are you wearing shorts to a bar

2. Why are they the same shorts from the night before

I feel you though, I used to go to a school in the deep boonies of southern GA......basically skinny jeans and a polo or you weren't allowed in......and that was if you were lightskinned.

My homie two shades darker than me was literally choked one time trying to get in.

Edit: went back, and I guess I'm not the only one

not everybody is aware after all this time :lol

hence why this thread is here :{

The problem is not dress codes, it's the fact some places discriminate and apply it to only some people while others will go with the same damn outfit.

Rules should be applied to everybody all the time.

Happens all the time down here, they used to deny me for sneakers, but the white guy would get in with flip flops. Nothing you can really do but take your business elsewhere.

Oh the struggle is real. I can't go anywhere on Washington ave in Houston. One of the bouncers turned my down for wearing sneakers then tells me, "straight up, you're going to have a hard time getting in anywhere with dreads..."

Eff it, can't have any fun with a bunch of cowards anyway..

Notice he didn't say "long hair", but "dreads". There's no way to sugar coat that.

Lol, if they let you in you'd be one of those "cowards" I guess huh? I would they cool if they did?

If they let me in, they wouldn't be cowards for discriminating against hairstyles. I guess it makes sense if you're one of the those people that think dread = criminals, like dreadlocks are new or something.

I'm trying to figure out what you getting at...
Pretty simple

Don't let him in = because they were cowards

Do let him in = they're cool people!

It's like the little girl that gets dumped making up every excuse in the book to why it's not HER fault, but his

I don't care what people do with their hair. The fact is, their club, their house, their rules
