I said it shouldn't happen and I was more shocked when the Lakers lost that series. It's unbelievable to ME, if it happens. In 62 years of the league, 182 teams out of 190 that are up 3-1, win the series. That's 95% Only 8 teams in NBA history have come back to do such a feat. Your up 3-1, you should win the series. If your good enough to win 3 games, your good enough to win 4. It's in the discussion because someone ADDED it in. We're talking about Penny vs. T-Mac, not Penny vs. Kobe or T-Mac vs Jesus.
Yeah real TEAMS, not ONE man teams.  Show me the stats for a ONE man team up 3-1 and winning it.  Hell, show me the stats of better teams winning 7 game series as opposed to upsets because Orlando definitely was not the favorites coming into the series.  Also, why are you acting like i'm comparing Kobe vs Tmac?  I was just comparing their situations being similar since you made it out to seem like it's remarkable that one couldn't close out a series up 3-1 yet praised someone else a page before as if that person didn't do the EXACT same thing.   And the "it's in the discussion" was in response to your "what if the lakers got the rebound" scenario.
There it goes again..."one man teams". He didn't win these games by HIMSELF. He didn't get to the playoffs by HIMSELF. He wasn't beating the Detroit Pistons by HIMSELF. Though he was the best player on that team doesn't mean he's beating these teams by himself. So let us kill the One Man Team excuse. Of course, the better teams or favorited teams usually win. They should win. But lets not act like the favorited/better team always win because upsets do occur. In 94 the Nuggets knocked off the Sonics. Or when Golden State beat Dallas a few years back. That's two 8th seeds beating 1 seeds. Does it happen often? No. Can it happen? Hell yeah. Should it have happen in Los Angeles, yes. Should it have happened in Orlando. Yes. I've stated several times that I was just as appauled and even more so when the Lakers lost that series. I'm praising that someone else for his career and not one playoff series. That someone else has been out of the first round. I addressed that a few pages back. That goes in general, im not saying it was just you. If you are comparing their' situations, then in essence, you are comparing them in some regard .

I don't know about this my man. After Shaq went to Los Angeles, Penny Hardaway was without question the leader of that team. T-Mac had some years in Houston where he wasn't necessarily playing along. In particular, the year when the Rockets took the Lakers to that game 7. T-Mac ended his own season early with that knee surgery and didn't tell anyone on that team or management but instead tells the media first. Then when he feels ready to play next year, he again tells the media before even be cleared by the team. I guess it all depends on which T-Mac we are looking at, Magic T-mac or Houston T-Mac

And you must've missed his following 10 seasons. McGrady was compared to Pippen when he was with the Raptors, but as soon as he started playing for the Magic he became another all-O/no-D player.

My point was regarding the assumption that Penny was a better defender than T-Mac. As you agreed with that Pippen comparison, T-Mac did play some defense on the Raptors. I was just waiting for an example when Penny was actually known for his defense consistently and not just stepping up against Jordan/other stars.

I assume you don't watch the current Pistons team, but T-Mac's defense was the only reason he even got PT in the beginning of the season off the bench. Now that he's the starting PG, he reverted back to part time defense, although his length will always be a positive.

Like I said man, people are just throwing that Penny/Defense nonsense out there because they KNOW nobody really remembers. So that is why I am ignoring it for what its worth.

I wish Penny didn't have a doll, Tyra Banks, Steve Urkel, and great shoes and maybe this would be an unbiased discussion.

It's funny that you think this is the main reason people are riding with Penny.

And where did you see m say that was the MAIN REASON?

It actually isn't funny because it plays into the role of the fans of Penny. Not sure why you are denying it, it is clear as day. His popularity and off-court activity DOES play a role in this discussion. That isn't taking away from his all-NBA talent, but to just say that nobody is factoring in those other qualities is naive.

You've reference to this point before so I'm assuming you believe this to be a main reason OR one of the main reasons. I'm denying it because it isn't the reason why I'm choosing Penny over T-Mac. I cannot speak for anyone else. One shouldn't penalize Penny when talking about his game because of his off-court popularity. I'm not saying this is what you are doing. Penny had game, and he also had charisma, and Tyra Banks, and Lil Penny and a dope signature line. But take away all that and he's still beasty. Just because I am a Penny fan doesn't mean I'm not a T-mac fan. I liked T-Mac. He had some great years in Orlando.

And TMAC wasn't an all-around player?

T-Mac ended his own season early with that knee surgery and didn't tell anyone on that team or management but instead tells the media first. Then when he feels ready to play next year, he again tells the media before even be cleared by the team. I guess it all depends on which T-Mac we are looking at, Magic T-mac or Houston T-Mac
Considering how little games Penny actually played post-Shaq, isn't it safe to say that Darrell Armstrong was the real leader on the team? Same idea can be applied to T-Mac's Magic team honestly.

And dudes in here were initially claiming that unlike TMAC, Penny was the type of player that a franchise can be built around. Another hypothetical assumption with no basis.
