Wrestling Thread May 20-26 | 5/23 Owen Hart Fell to His Death 14 Years Ago Today

- TMZ.com is reporting that the family of Randy Savage gathered at a local Olive Garden yesterday to remember the WWE Legend on the 2 year anniversary of his death. The restaurant was one Savage frequently visited, and Lanny Poffo had the following to say to TMZ:

"I have to be strong for my family now. I'm just glad to have had him as a brother and wanna celebrate his life as much as I can instead of continuing to mourn."

Olive Garden? That may be the worst memorial ever.

- Mark Henry may be returning as a babyface. As seen on the Extreme Rules post-show, Henry left the trainers room and said he was going home. There has been some talk for months about turning Henry face.
SMH.  What the hell are they thinking??

WWE = Oakland Raiders/Dallas Cowboys. They've complained that there is a shortage of heels, but instead of keeping of the few legit heels you've had in a LONG time, you're contemplating on turning him face.

I'ma have to call ******** on that rumour there is NO WAY they do something that stupid. I know its the WWE but it makes NO sense at all. If they honestly turn him face I will give up any hope of them turning it around. Look at the heat he gets. The his a monster heel that the crowd actually believes is credible threat. Why for what reason when they have all this talent that could easily slide into the role.

Henry was pretty much booked as the face during his feud with Sheamus.  When he did the truck pulling gimmick on Smackdown a few weeks ago, the crowd cheered for him, and Justin Roberts even told the crowd to give Henry a round of applause.  If Henry is brought in as an asskicking badass babyface, there is no problem with it.  Just scream, THAT'S WHAT I DO while beating up heels, and he'll get over huge.

So who wants to argue with me that Curtis Axel is going to be a star?

"Ooooooooh, Triple H is really high on him."

"Ooooooooh, The Rock trained with him."

"Ooooooooh, The Undertaker said good things about him."

"Ooooooooh, he's been tearing up NXT."

Give me a break.  WWE buried this guy not once, but TWICE, on his debut night.  HHH comes out and clowns the dude telling him "the adults are speaking" and then slaps him a like a ***** and Axel does nothing about it.

Then in their match, HHH owns the dude for most of the match, and then even with a brain injury, HHH still has him beat.  And then of course the spotlight is completely put on HHH while Axel most likely crawled away to the back.

The difference between Sheamus and Axel is that Sheamus was a new character.  Yes, he was buried for a long, long time, but fans weren't programmed previously to think he was a geek.  Michael McGillicutty was one of the biggest geek jobbers in WWE.  Fans have no reason to treat him any differently after last night.  I predict once Punk and Lesnar come back, they destroy Alex and he's out of the group and back to jobbing on Superstars.

I can't wait for all you nerds that watch NXT to tell me I'm wrong.  This is VINTAGE WWE booking.

You might be right about Curtis, Jess, this could be Swagger 2.0.

I was hoping that we would have seen Zeb walk away on Swagger last night.

Here's what happened after Raw:

- After Monday’s episode of Raw went off the air, trainers continued to check up on Triple H. Triple H was asked if he remembered anything from the match, and he said his entrance. The trainers asked him if he knew what day it was, and he didn’t reply. They then proceeded to pick Triple H up and escort him to the backstage area.

Paul Heyman and Curtis Axel left the ring once trainers started checking on Hunter.

Wanna wager on that?

I'm cool with a Henry face turn as long as it isn't a smiling pandering face. Just have him pretty much act like he does now, while faces heels. Its not that hard to do.
