Wrestling Thread Mar 11-24 | 3/18 RAW - HHH Responds to Brock | Punk Still Has Taker's Urn

Management/Creative doesn't deserve any type of credit for D. Bry. They had him doing ridiculous **** on the first season of NXT and he still got over. When they got rid of Bryan after the Nexus incident...the fans forced them to bring him back. 18 seconds could've killed his WWE career but the fans didn't let it happen. A lot of respect for the best wrestler in the company. :hat
Stuff like what?

“NXT was disrespectful to wrestling in general. The entire show. When Undertaker debuted, he didn’t have to climb ladders or carry kegs. I trained to be a wrestler for a long time, so let me go out and wrestle. If you have me go out and do these stupid contests, you make me look stupid and it’s very difficult to make stars when you already made them look stupid on television”
That's a recent quote pulled from a Bryan interview.

Good thing creative neglects the past all the time and Bryan won't have to be reminded of his days on NXT carrying kegs and whatever.

- WWE writer Brian Gewirtz has been back but that was expected since The Rock is back in the storylines. Gewirtz was taken off the staff but kept in the company. Gewirtz is also working on Rock’s The Hero reality show for TNT.

- The current plan is for Triple H to defeat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 29. The feeling is that he has to win because Lesnar beat him the first time, “broke his arm” twice and broke Shawn Michaels’ arm as well. There has been talk of using Michaels in the storyline again so Michaels can have a WrestleMania role.

- We noted before that WWE was negotiating with other former Divas to return after bringing back The Bella Twins. Apparently they made offers to Maryse and Kelly Kelly also. Kelly and Maryse reportedly denied their first offers but are still in talks.

- Most of the material for the Zeb Colter promos comes directly from the man behind the gimmick, Wayne Keown (Dutch Mantell). He has to get everything approved but he is coming up with most of it.

- Gerald Brisco was scouting for WWE at the NCAA Division II national wrestling tournament this past week and will be headed to the finals later this month. Brisco is high on a few college juniors as pro wrestling prospects. WWE is trying to not get a bad reputation with college wrestling coaches so they won’t heavily recruit talents until their eligibility is complete.

- As noted before, the March 11th WWE RAW did a 3.34 cable rating with 4.79 million viewers.

In the segment breakdown, the show opened at a 3.46 quarter rating for the Paul Bearer tribute, The Undertaker and CM Punk. Big Show vs. Seth Rollins lost 9,000 viewers. Dolph Ziggler vs. Daniel Bryan gained 132,000 viewers. Fandango’s segment with Tensai and Brodus Clay lost 298,000 viewers. The New Age Outlaws vs. Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow with Brock Lesnar’s appearance gained 326,000 viewers for a show-high 3.57 quarter rating.

Mark Henry vs. Kofi Kingston and Ryback vs. Heath Slater and the Henry-Ryback face-off lost 179,000 viewers. Antonio Cesaro vs. Alberto Del Rio lost 265,000 viewers. The video for John Cena vs. The Rock lost 10,000 viewers. Sheamus and Randy Orton vs. Rhodes and Sandow in the 10pm timeslot gained 106,000 viewers for a 3.32 quarter rating. The Highlight Reel with Chris Jericho, The Miz, Wade Barrett and Brad Maddox gained 81,000 viewers but Jericho vs. Miz lost 359,000 viewers. Jack Swagger vs. Sin Cara lost 78,000 viewers.

CM Punk vs. Kane in a No DQ main event gained 153,000 viewers for a 3.18 quarter rating, which is a very weak overrun gain.

- WWE now requires their beginner students to train with headgear on to lessen potential head injuries until they learn how to correctly take bumps. This change is being credited to Dr. Joseph Maroon and Triple H, who has been given full control over the WWE developmental system.

- Regarding WWE inducting Paul Bearer into the Hall of Fame, someone close to Bearer says that if it was up to Bearer, his wish was to be inducted the same year as The Undertaker.

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

- There was scheduled to be a WWE Hall of Fame announcement on Monday’s RAW but it never happened. While there has been a push to induct Paul Bearer, it’s believed that he was not the planned announcement. WNZ noted that Booker T may be inducted this year.

- R-Truth vs. WWE United States Champion Antonio Cesaro may end up being one of the WrestleMania 29 pre-show matches.

- One WWE source described Vince McMahon as “very argumentative and contrary” right now. Vince has reportedly been constantly second-guessing other people’s ideas and his own. The Royal Rumble buyrate may be contributing to Vince’s bad attitude but the source described Vince as “a massive pain in the *** to work with right now.”

It was also noted that WWE writers are working a very demanding schedule at the office and not only is Vince demanding constant changes, but it’s said that Stephanie McMahon is “fanning the flames” by requesting that writers come up with more options for Vince to go over.

- Before Monday’s RAW hit the air, the original script they had for Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel was a “really bad” one so they changed it completely and spent hours re-doing the segment. There was also a problem with the Jeritron that was in the ring. During the playing of The Marine 3 trailer, the WWE ring crew had to remove the Jeritron from the ring. This caused more problems for the segment and Jericho was forced to improvise.

The segment really took a turn for the worse when Brad Maddox came out. The Jeritron was supposed to be involved in Maddox’s presentation but it wasn’t in the ring anymore, he lost track and flubbed his promo on live TV.

Even before Maddox came out, Vince McMahon had instructed Michael Cole to bury the segment on commentary. There was some heat on Cole with the feeling that the segment was bad but most people wouldn’t have noticed or said anything if it weren’t for his comments drawing attention.

Backstage, Vince was calling the segment one of the worse ever and Maddox was the one blamed.

- It was noted yesterday that WWE officials have made offers to Kelly Kelly and Maryse with the new idea that they need to bring back former Divas. They also reportedly reached out to Beth Phoenix.

- WWE NXT wrestler Jake Carter, who has features similar to The Miz, also shares the same name as Miz’s character in The Marine 3. No word yet if this will still happen but there was a plan last year to create a Jake Carter character in developmental that would eventually move up to the WWE main roster and feud with The Miz once the movie came out. Carter is the son of WWE Legend Vader.

- There was some sort of injury to CM Punk during the No DQ match with Kane at Monday’s RAW. When Punk was down after a bad spill, the cameras cut away but referee Mike Chioda threw up the “X” symbol and a trainer came down to look at Punk. A few more times during the match, Chioda called for a trainer to come down but Punk ended up finishing the match.

anyone else thinks HHH winning is dumb...yes he is the COO and all that jazz but Lesnar hasn't won a big match yet...why not give him the win, let HHH fade away till Summer Slam and cement Lesnar as a monster like they should have done in the first place??

Jake Carter should've been named Mike Mizanin :lol

As far as Brock/HHH, id like 15 minutes of Brock F-5ing him in different areas like SD HCTP. Then he moves on to feud with Sheamus and he does the same to him.

WWE blaming everybody but themselves again. They have a habit of burying stuff, and it would be better if they didn't cause that usually end up drawing attention to stuff that others may not have noticed without that. Maddox >>*

Brad Maddox is one of the few high points of RAW in my opinion

his 'The Office'-esque character will get over eventually

DC, do the right thing and post some Wrestling Observer Newsletters, preferably from the 90s

im sure you have some next to your burnt copy of Fire Pro Wrestling and autographed KSteezy photo

go.

DC, is there a better version of that Do Fixer/Blood Gen match somewhere? It's all choppy and stuff.

Ahmed Johnson vs Vader (Raw, May '96)

SmackDown wrestler Jimmy Uso was arrested Wednesday at 12:47 p.m. in Hillsborough County, Florida, and charged with driving under the influence, according to the official website of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. He did not stay in jail for long as he was released on $500 cash bond that day at 3:08 p.m.

Uso, whose real name is Jonathan Solofa Fatu, was previously arrested on September 29, 2011 in Tampa, Florida, on suspicion of driving under the influence. An officer observed Fatu at approximately 3:00 a.m. that day driving the wrong way down a one-way street in a silver Mustang.

Uso's run-in with the law comes on the heels of Jack Swagger's arrest in Gulfport, Mississippi, last month on charges of driving under the influence, marijuana possession, and speeding. He faced no repercussions from WWE. The last WWE talent to be arrested in Hillsborough County was Brodus Clay's dancer Cameron, who was charged with driving under the influence on August 24, 2012.
