I see a SOLID team here, which doesn't refute what I was saying in my previous reply. You could see GSW's style in that package, Bogut's hustle and execution, and yes, Curry doing his thing. My contention is that Curry is a great player in a well-oiled system on a GREAT franchise. That highlight package doesn't refute that.

It was a fun watch, though, for sure. I remember watching those Warriors and being highly entertained, just like now. I love good basketball.
They weren't a great franchise before him though. They were a joke.
They just happen to become great right when he becomes the star player?

In what world is Steph a top 10 player? And in what world is he closer to being top 10 than Bron is to being 2?

Who said, what you’re saying? Matter fact, what are you even saying right now :lol.

The only consensus I’ve seen here is Steph is the #2 PG behind magic...and somewhere in the top 10-20 players ever.

I firmly think he’s around 13ish, or something like that. Him and KD sit around there.

So what kind of team then? Lets compare some other superstars' pasts "mediocre" squads:

So are you saying similar to Durant? Oh wait he's had Westbrook, Harden, Ibaka, and Adams most of time in OKC

So, okay, like Bron? Oh wait he had big Z (who was an all star at one point), Boozer, Mo

Similar teams to CP3? Prime DWest tho, shoot! CP3 doesn't fall into that "elite" group

Similar teams to Giannis? Oh wait, he had pretty solid teams too

See what I'm saying? You can't really do the I need to see him around a "medicore team to prove his greatness" thing when all these players above have had solid teams. No decent franchise doesn't try to surround their best player with a solid roster.

Like I said before, most of those players on that SOLID roster were no longer in the league anymore before they were completely washed.

AND, Mark Jackson hasn't gotten a chance to coach again.

Oh, btw, he has beaten most of the aforementioned in the playoffs when it mattered most. But hey! He needs to do it by himself so we can really know! Really? LOL

Why lament Steph's help? Especially when the team ain't even close to as great without him?

This Steph on a mediocre team in his prime. Back 2 back blowouts to start the 2019-2020 season

If we going to take two regular season games as an indictment on Steph's greatness, then lets pull some receipts for some your favorite players in the last few years LOL.

Let me know when your favorite player can average thirty facing a box and one because most of his teammates left were g-leaguers.

Steph lacks something very important to break into top 10 status, longevity. His peak is probably a top 10 peak.
30ppg, 50-40-90, 73 wins, 400 3s, but the overall career numbers aint there. GOAT shooter though.

They both like to eliminate the finer details which matter when you're evaluating the elite of the elite. There are definitely some of his vehement fans on here that have tried to elevate him to status he hasn't earned yet (ie what Wavy alluded to earlier). This GOATPG bulljive, it was 'his era' etc. Just let him get more meat on his bones before you put him there. He still has time to add to his resume, but he ain't there or really close to bring top 10 in my opinion. They did the same thing with Bron (although he does have a much stronger argument given his body of work).

I could see in the heat of the moment how posters might have prematurely elevated him in the past. However after the 2019-2020 season and this hiatus, in the current moment, it seems like we've all come back down to reality and can agree where Steph ranks currently as an all-time player. We also seem to acknowledge that he might be able to jump up a few spots depending how the remainder of his career pans out. How much higher will 100% depend on his accomplishments.

This longevity and career numbers aspect of a players legacy/ranking is going to be really intriguing for Kawhi. It's gonna mess with people and be hard to come to a consensus.

Exactly. Him at his PEAK tho...over the last 6 or so seasons is about as elite as you can get, in the game of basketball.

Longevity holds him back. We can all agree to that.

If push comes to shove, they can always say cats online rep them to validate them, so they must be right

LOL I love NT. Ya'll have not been affected by the devil called Twitter.

The lengths people go through for online rep there is insane.

You can get paid tho so posting doesn't seem so in vain.

If someone else were saying the exact words that I've said, my argument against alternate-me would be exactly what you just said.

And I have nothing to refute what you just said, if I were dead set that he's overrated trash.

I know steph is phenomenal, though, elite even. I think where I started to get lost is in #2 PGOAT. Like, PG is probably the most loaded position in the history of the NBA. I have nothing to back that up, and I'm not intrested in any metrics that show another position has been more loaded in the league's history. But we all know there have been a metric eff-ton of disgusting PGs. #2? Of all time? Like, I don't think it's a coincidence that his growth and the Warriors growth follow the exact same trajectory. But I do think that his growth and the Warriors growth as a team and as a franchise cripple the argument that he's the 2nd best PGOAT.
