What are we to make of this?  Flyknit?

Adi jumped the gun on theirs though... interesting to see how both products will perform.

Oh Captain, My Captain!!! Movie heads will know what movie this is from...

If this is indeed the last year for Puyol at Camp Nou, let me be the first to say moltes gracies for contributing to the trophies & some of the most beautiful football I've ever seen. I've been watching Barca since the 90-91 season & have been fortunate to see many great players wear the Blaugrana shirt but none exemplify the virtues of the club more than Puyol. He played with such ability, grit, tenacity & sheer determination along with a level of class & sportsmanship that's seldom seen. It will be truly an end of an era...

Which fox in the fiddle?

Damn bro it was my only visit to TO but i know it was on Yonge St. uptown somewhere... Def like 2-3 miles north of Downtown... Area was more residential-ish.. I forget the cross street.. Pretty large bar, seating areas on the first and second floors, great bfast too... I was there for the Stoke game last fall (September I think) and it was Ozil's first home game... Son had all three assists IIRC...

Gonna have to take my son to that Spain friendly... There will be a ton of Salvadorians there for that game though...

Looks like Zubi's trip to Croatia earlier this week was successful. Reports are Barca has signed 17 year old Croatian sensation Alen Halilovic, an attacking mid. An unconfirmed fee of €10 million plus variables.

Nothing, just that my son & I will be rooting for Spain. It should be cool though because all the Salvadorians were cool at M&T stadium during last year's Gold Cup final. Maryland has a huge Salvadorian population.

NO worries PSK, I know you dont mean any harm...

I"ll be at the game as well (NTTailgate?) but since most of my peoples are Salvi's I'll be cheering for the underdog... I'm gonna attempt to have Santi Cazorla (and maybe even Nacho if he's there) sign some Arsenal gear...

I just showed my Salvadoran co-worker my typo & he smacked me in the back of my head... He said I guess Asians are good at math but ain't **** with spelling...

Pellegrini has been banned for 2 games by UEFA. He could be banned a 3rd game if he makes any negative comments about officials within the next 2 years. His touchline ban starts with the next CL match at Camp Nou...

I guess Barca's new starlet midfielder will be visiting a tattoo removal specialist soon... The tattoo Alen Halilovic has on his wrist.

Favorite Barca player ever. These injuries these past 2-3 years :smh: Always sad to see the careers of legends ending no matter what club they play for

Not a very smart player for two reasons.

ES vs Spain you say?

Haven't been to FedEx before, what metro line do I take if I start off at pentagon?

How'd you manage? As far as I know, La Liga wasn't broadcast stateside in the 90s. Having grown up all over, I recall moving to the US for a year of HS in 2003, and GolTV picked it up not long after. Though iirc, ESPN had the CL rights for years before and the Premiership was shown on Fox for a long time.

Damn Mata and Pique left off Spain's roster.

Guess it makes sense.

Well, Pique's injured. Thiago has outperformed Mata, though, and I'm not really sure I see a way back in for him right now. Thiago can play anywhere in midfield, but the attacking mid position is well stocked. Still funny that there were people in here saying Mata should play in CM for Xavi over the summer.

Seems fake. Good signing, though. I know nothing about him, other than that he's highly rated and apparently has some David Silva to his game. Hopefully, he pans out.

Didn't get the chance to comment, but what a poor showing last time out for Barça. Mostly on the manager that time - selection was all wrong. Real Madrid are coming on, and are a lot more solid than Barça are so I expect they'll push on. Di Maria is a bit underrated - so positionally versatile. As expected, Bale is thriving against open teams, but he's struggled against sides that closed down the space, so it'll be interesting to see how he fares against top comp.

Ozil still not fully fit from bruised feelings, only on bench vs Stoke.

Dempsey re-appears to start in final game on loan vs. Chelsea. He had a good scoring record against Chelsea with them back when. Did miss a penalty in ET that would have won a game for them 3 or so years ago. Luiz gave it away in his CFC debut, IIRC.

I said sometime ago, my first exposure to footy was having been shuttled to my oldest Uncle's home for a couple of summers who lived in Bayern at the time in the early/mid 80s. She & my cousins were hugs fans. I then had multicultural neighbors as I lived in a development that had students from Johns Hopkins. Mostly graduate students.

When my uncle moved back to the states, he had various incarnations of satellite TV that enabled him to continue watching his footy. It was a combination of Spanish speaking networks & european programming that he had that enabled me to watch all kinds of football.

That particular year (90-91), I worked abroad for him. He worked for a huge Korean company in finance. He was also an attache or some sort of advisor to the US foreign relations committee at the time. We traveled to many parts of Europe including Russia (as communism was falling). I worked for him through the summer of 93 where I ended up being a runner for him in DC making sure various senators & lobbyist had informational packets... I hated the summer of 93 in DC because it was really hot that summer & I was in shirt & tie that whole summer...

So to make a long story short, I've been able to watch great football here in the states through a combo of satellite TV packages where the La Liga broadcasts came from Spanish language programing (I think it was a Mexican network), European networks (was it Sky Sports?), & also Asian programming. Also some ESPN, but in those days they only had Euro championships of some sort on.
