The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Shadow Of Tomb Raider already going on sale. But still will wait for the eventual $19.99 price drop by Black Friday:

$41 on amazon right now.

Sony Gold PS4 Headset on sale too....

Wonder why they have random items on sale right now?

PO

How much of an improvement can they really make with the next gen though?

This is the first time in my life where i sat and realized that I dont need a next gen console.

Spiderman was too short :frown:

Now I have to wait for RD2...might just to casually beat/speed through Breath of the Wild before it drops

4k 60 fps standard across all games
Dolby Atmos/Vision
Bigger hard drive maybe ssd
Backwards compatability

They can do a lot. The hardware on a PS4 is pretty bad at this point. Can’t run 60fps consistently across the board with every game, especially if there are a lot of artifacts. And you have a drop in frame rates often too.

In all honesty, the PS4 first released in 2013..........so it isn't shocked that it is barely keeping up with newly released games that were most likely developed on GTX 1070 Tis and/or GTX 1080 Tis (and possibly on the new RTX 20s).

Even with the marginal upgraded PS4 Pro, it only did enough just to up the performance in terms of resolution.......but framerate stability is still a hit or miss.

With the upcoming PS5, the customized AMD GPU/APU that will be utilized on it will have graphical power close to a GTX 1080 Ti at the most OR a GTX 1070 Ti at the minimum. Practically it'll be on-par with AMD's Vega GPU-line.

That isn't a big leap to most folk.....but as someone that just built a new PC with a GTX 1070 Ti GPU this year after running a PC with Radeon HD 6670 GPU for 6-7 years since 2011 when it was first built, it does make some decent performance differences.

Paladins is so :pimp:

And God of War is gonna get the platinum treatmeant too. Can’t wait to run through NG+

No console is ever gonna run 60 FPS across the board.

Exactly. I got waaaaay too many games to catch up with, to get stuck on one. I still have a list of PS3 titles in the backlog too.

The brightside is by the time I usually get to the games I want, they're on sale. RD2 should be like 20-40 by the time I get to it.
So you’ll be getting it 4-5 years from now?

PS5 and the XBox successor will be running a custom AMD 'Navi' GPU or APU. AMD 'Navi' is expected to debut at retail sometime at the end of Q1 next year so I can see SONY & MS waiting for it to mature a few months before making their announcements.

FWIW, with the PS4 and XBox One most of the early games were remasters, etc... so it looks like it might be more of the same with this launch too. We'll see PS4 games drop next year and the inevitable remaster on the PS5 a few weeks later.

Side note: There's some chatter that Sony, MS & Nintendo want to adopt the cellphone hardware life cycle with their console hardware too. So expect newer iterations of the same generation but with more 'features' and a higher price. :smh:
What's dumb about a lot of remasters is they just turn the graphic settings up

As far as what matters most, you're gonna want a better CPU whether you know it or not

I wanted to change my PSN ID for years but I got older and stopped caring. I’m not sure I’ll ever boot up my PS3 again but I’m not going to “test” things out and lose access to games I’ve purchased in the past all because I changed my PSN ID.
