These days games have soooooo much content and extra things to do and it feels overwhelming to me sometimes. I find myself just wanting to beat the story and move on to the next game, just don't have the energy and patience. Unless I really love the game.
Idk how you guys get all these plats. Major props.

I always just beat the story and move on. Time is limited and the backlog is huge for the ps3 and 4.

Exactly. I got waaaaay too many games to catch up with, to get stuck on one. I still have a list of PS3 titles in the backlog too.
The brightside is by the time I usually get to the games I want, they're on sale. RD2 should be like 20-40 by the time I get to it.

Some games you enjoy more by going for the platinum.
I would never have done the extras on some games but going for the platinum made me enjoy it even more.
These days though, I will only go for certain plats. I will have to love the game and the plat must not be grindy or take too long.
I only have a few plats and they are in games I absolutely love.
Horizon and Bloodborne are the next two
Horizon definitely is on my to plat list.
November 2019 PS5 I think. Sony knows Last of Us remastered sold a ton on PS4 so they don't need to wait for the game to come out before PS5 is out.
I'm guessing Ghosts will be early 2019 with last of Us 2, mid to fall and PS5 end of year.
They're making so much money though that 2020 release won't surprise me either.

PS5 and the XBox successor will be running a custom AMD 'Navi' GPU or APU. AMD 'Navi' is expected to debut at retail sometime at the end of Q1 next year so I can see SONY & MS waiting for it to mature a few months before making their announcements.
FWIW, with the PS4 and XBox One most of the early games were remasters, etc... so it looks like it might be more of the same with this launch too. We'll see PS4 games drop next year and the inevitable remaster on the PS5 a few weeks later.
Side note: There's some chatter that Sony, MS & Nintendo want to adopt the cellphone hardware life cycle with their console hardware too. So expect newer iterations of the same generation but with more 'features' and a higher price.

2020's all but assured. I'm on the fence about November 2019 though, I think we would have had way more chatter last year if that was the case. With the rumblings starting right now we'll definitely see it in 2020 as the year alone is too memorable (with potential marketing tie-ins) to waste.

Next-gen console rumours have been ramping up recently. Xbox's next outing will reportedly be codenamed Scarlett, and come in two forms, as traditional hardware and a "streaming box". Nintendo, seemingly keen not to be left out, is apparently planning a Switch upgrade for next year.
