The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Red Dead comes out in a few weeks who is excited?
I'm def HYPED. Got a PS4 for this game and my ps3 backlog was so backed up I just played the first game last year, so the story is pretty frsh in my mind.
It blows me away that some of the stuff that was GTA V was actually in RDR first, like the whole random encounters.

I haven’t tried regular multiplayer on black ops yet, Battle Royale has killed that experience for me.

Paging Hybridsolider:

Is it really this bad in the video game industry:

Was it that bad at Square Enix or other places you have worked at. Is it better now that you are working at Naughty Dog ?

I'm not Hybrid, but I can tell you from firsthand experience that it definitely gets crazy during crunch. It's rough. Burnout is pretty much guaranteed. I remember not seeing my girlfriend(now wife) awake for a good week or two because of the hours.

It seems these AAA game developers are ready for next gen. PS5/Xbox whatever consoles too....................look at the PS4 file size for RDR2

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/red-dead-redemption-2-file-size-revealed/1100-6462541/?ftag=GSS-05-10aab8d&utm_campaign=trueAnthem:+Trending+Content&utm_content=5bc506de04d3014965ad85f7&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook

Red Dead Redemption 2 is big and bright, deep in the heart of Texas. Following an apparent look at the game size for PS4 Pro, the full file size on Xbox One has been revealed as well. The "Additional Information" section on the Microsoft Store lists its approximate size at 88.57 GB.

Weighing in at nearly 90 gigs puts it close to the leak from the PS4 Pro Bundle, which suggested it would be 105 GB. It's possible that the disparity can be chalked up to the Pro version downloading some extra textures, and that it would be similarly sized on Xbox One X.

These game devs/publishers don't give a **** about optimizing for consoles anymore...........you either need a 1TB/2TB HDD to have this game alongside more games in your console's back log OR hell nah.

You know damn well the PS5 will prolly have 1.5TB HDDs at the start of launch now after seeing how these AAA game devs. are with the file sizes of these games

I’ve been enjoying Dragon Quest XI. Grinding turn based battles can be so addicting. I’ve probably spent 3-4 hours just running around the map fighting different enemies.

bigjny88 bigjny88 I think they look at disk storage as being 'cheap' in the overall grand scheme and you can't really do too much to optimize storage space save for compression. Compression in turn will lead to lower image quality, lossy soundtracks, etc...

Yup and it's been reported Microsoft on the next box will offer a streaming only option similar to the steam box. No disc option.

The last time Microsoft was talking about doing this their was outrage from everyone.. I'll be shocked if they go through with that

The "steam box" option is literally just that.......an option.

It is said Microsoft's "Next Box Scarlet" was going to have 2 versions of the console........the legit console itself AND the rumored steam box version.

So next gen. Xbox ain't gonna abandon console hardware that easily for "Steamware Consoles"
