Microsoft tried to pull a fast one on killing the always-online strategy, but I low and behold, they made a workout around...
Instead of a once every 24hr check in, you have to check in to download (play) the full entirety of the game, IE: Forza 5. So basically Forza 5 is being shipped with only half the game on disc, if you want the other half which is extra cars, tracks, drivetars etc. you have to download [cough] check in [/cough] to get the rest of the content. As long as your connected to the internet, the full game is yours, but if you're not, you only get the portion that comes on the disc.
Rushed game or a new strategy to keep it's dearly beloved always-on/connected DRM? Ill go with the latter.
