Why go on TV? They obviously love the attention. I believe you are entitled to merely show up at the news conference initially. And then you can be ghost. They seem like the type to be at casinos nearly 24/7 on their time off. Stereotypical lottery couple. I guess thats good theyll be able to pay back some debts. Lottery will be happy that they will be playing again soon.

Unless you feel you'd be dead by the time you claim it (looking at the lady, shes close), there is no positive benefit for claiming so early. It still takes some 2-6 weeks for that money to be transfered over. I'm guessing they have some loan offers now until then. "We'll give you $1mil. Just pay us back $1.2 mil when you get your check".

They are playing it by the book of what NOT to do.

In TN lottery winners are public record, meaning that anyone can find out your name and home town just by inquiring.  This means news outlets will find you regardless, so why not just get it over with?  The sooner they get their brief brush with fame over with, the sooner they can go back to working (yes, they said they would keep working).  This was the biggest jackpot in the history of the lottery--there is NO way in a non-anonymity state that people weren't going to find out who they are and then attempt to contact them.

No positive benefit for claiming early?  What the hell does that even mean? 

  The benefit is getting your ************* money sooner than later.  What exactly are the negatives of claiming "early"????

They hired a attorney, accountant, and lawyer within a day? And it was the attorneys idea to get them on tv with his daughter in tow? That already sounds like terrible advice. But heck, for whatever commission he is making on those millions, he'll use them to his advantage.

Me, I'd hold tryouts for lawyers and financial planners. Let my areas top 20 prove to me why they are worthy of my time and money.

Now that it has come out that they plan on giving most of their money away and will continue to work like they never won, I guess none of this even matters.
