The Official Photography Thread - Vol. 3

^Those first 2 shots are sickk!! How did you do that if you don't mind sharing?

shimmy shimmy ya, i always shoot raw. it's better for editing. like LA08 said, white balance is easily corrected with raw files

5dii
sigma 15mm
f2.8
1/200
iso100
flash pointed up/bounced off ceiling
same settings for both shots
patience
Pretty dope.

Sick five D. Just saw that on Flickr. I am assuming you zoom in at the end of your shot right?

Internet porn is the ****.

This was the spot where me and my brodies usually went to to engage in the illegal

pastime of pot smoking.

I was trying to create a panorama of my homie painting a character in the middle of the frame

while getting all of the tracks on both sides.

I got home and found out that I couldn't use the panorama feature on PS... maybe cuz I got it illegally. Idk.

Anyways... here are the pictures.

I was watching a DRUGS INC (the Hollywood episode) episode on TV and they filmed a shot in this exact location.

I was like

laugh.gif

Woulda been dope if the kicks were some easily recognized classics like a pair of Chucks or Forces.

Can't wait to get this skin in for my camera, not my pic. The RX100 is a bit slippery so it would be good to have some grip. Also does anyone else use a Gariz soft shutter button like the pictured? Does it really change the feel of the shutter?

I use a soft release on my camera (not a gariz) and it makes a world of difference. Won't use mine without it.

Rx100 is full frame, right? How do you like it

I think the RX-1 is the full frame runs like $2700, the RX100 is deemed as a pocket DSLR though. I love it so far, I haven't had a chance to shoot anything yet, but this Sunday I'm going to a Japanese New Year Festival. Here's some pics from Martin James Cook, who also uses a RX100 http://500px.com/martinjamescook

I have to give this dude a plug just cause he is super good. I just found this guy on Flickr and he is just amazing. Does mostly landscapes and lives in SF (Rolo.....right up your alley man. Seems like she shot with you during New Years). I don't even know what he shoots with yet but everything is so damn clear. He must do a lot of pic stiching but the key to his photos is all in the time of day he shoots it at.

If you guys have a Flickr, make sure to add him: http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidyuweb/

I tried getting some long exposure shots of the road while i was driving...didn't turn out so well, definitely need someone else driving to try that again

So I was lucky enough to receive the gift of a Nikon D5100, 18-55 lens, 55-300mm lens and a few other items. Never have really been into photography more so due to lack of time, but am highly intrigued about the field. Where does one start to delve? Do I read up on the camera, take a class? Just go out and start shooting? Where did you all began?

start out by learning about the exposure triangle. spend a lot of time out taking pictures and learning what works/doesnt work and what kinds of thngs you like shooting. look at pictures others have taken that you like, and try to emulate them.

there's some really helpful videos on youtube too. i like digitalrev and froknowsphotos
