I know the owners are trying to lower salaries, but how come they don't wanna negotiate? Wouldn't no season, hurt the owners evenly as the players(w/ overseas and all)?Originally Posted by DubA169
The NBA isn't publicly traded so i don't think they need to show his salary.
Someone needs to Photoshop stern's face on Boss Hogg
Been said before... The owners have absolutely no intention of negotiating.
There won't be a season unless the players bend over backwards so stern can have his way with them

Really what it comes down to. Look things like retirement benefits, health care and marketing are the only reason the Players Union will exist if Stern gets his way. The way the general fans feel is that the NBA should pay its best players an aproprate amount for all the things they bring the league and the ancelary players should get less. Unions and inparticular sports unions have always existed to insure the lower level players. The last things the Union wants to see is a franchise tag or enhanced contract numbers and pay for designated players, cause it means the end of the Union being viable. You think a guy like Lebron doesnt want to be able to sign his own contracts with videogame publishers and the like?Originally Posted by DubA169
Crushing the players union is much more lucrative and valuable long term than the profits they would make next season
I think the players signing for much less and gong to Europe/Asia can end up hurting them, if and only if, they run back to the states when hey begin to hate the experience for whatever reason (food, culture, bad transportation, rowdy crowds with lack of security, even a lack of superstar treatment by refs)

NBA takes legal action against locked-out players
The NBA has filed an unfair labor practice charge and afederal lawsuit against the NBA Players Association, accusing the players offailing to bargain “in good faith
