Nah. The quality has dipped from prior seasons. The episode was just ok. Nothing remarkable about the plot or actors to make it standout to previous Black Mirror material. It wasn't bad, it was just eh. Now episode 2 was a waste of my timeAlso, it is easy to hate Cyrus so I feel if SHE wasn't the star of the episode it would have gotten more praise .
If the star would have been someone like KeKe Palmer or Yara Shahidi, I think things would be viewed different.
The story was trite. Like I originally said it gave me Lifetime vibes. Take out The sci-fi angle and its just evil aunt OD taking over pop star niece's life to make endless profits and another story of weird depressing girl obsession with said pop star. Can I ask what the execution difference was between eps like USS Calister, Black Museum or White Christmas and this one?
They totally glossed over the other new tech they introduced. They were solely there to serve a purpose. Get to point A to point B.For one, I didn't buy the whole premise of how they went about extracting music from her dreams. Felt really contrived and convenient for the story and not convenient at all for making actual music. I did think it was cool when they adjusted things and showed how the tone of a song could completely change with the exact same lyrics.
They way they managed to get past the bodyguard felt kind of absurd, but again felt like they wanted to get the characters to a certain points without working through all the boring logic.
The concept of transferring all of a person's personality, and isolating just the prepackaged pop star portion? Felt convenient again for the sake of the story. Worked out for the story overall, but again felt like they took some logical leaps to establish some things.
But this episode felt like a real change of pace. It felt a lot less like it was supposed to spark discussion or make you deeply consider some wild concepts that are pretty close to being reality. The concepts were there, and it's an interesting concept...just didn't feel fully fleshed out and examined.

It didn't dig deep in to the human condition or the sci-fi angle; the doll containing a copy of her consciousness and it really couldnt cuz one part of the story was making the lonely girl feel better and the other part is after the limited are off is getting down to the plot of the aunt imprisoning the niece in a coma and using her mind to churn out new music.
At best there's an argument that the ep was an example of how new technology bordering on sci-fi can be used to exploit and inhumanely use/torture ppl but other episodes have done that better.
White Xmas was ****ing excellent.
White Xmas puts a crazy twist on the notion of blocking ppl qnd social media. One that if you give it some thought is quite terrifying. Also, within Hamm's character's story he deals with a version of the doll with the consciousness of a person but its some egg thing thats suppose to like change the actual person's home to their preferences.
You could do an entire ep on extracting new ideas from unconscious ppl's minds. Get the right sci-fi pseudo science explanation and you might be able to extend it to dead ppl. Think still getting new music from Prince.
Apply it differently and arguably, you can hook that up to babies and parents could communicate with them.
Naw Falcon gay, he offered up the idea of kissing in real life. And falcon imo aint gay he smashing a sexy asian chick
His best friend though.

We really questioning if falcon is gay and we ain't seen dude show 1 bit of interest in any female in the MCU and the way he follows Steve around like a puppy dog
Even in this dude got that fine azzzzzz woman at home.. but gotta hit that video game to go see is homeboy.. even his kid literally tried kicking him out of it
Wasn't no computer program telling dude "I love you" and meeting up in the rain.. and having their pregnant wife having to come out of bed in the middle of the night to bail dude out
Dude just did his 6 Degrees of Separation.I dont see it before but Clarence/Falcon/Dude who loves to get it with his homie a budget Will Smith lol
