Unknown, as we don't see just how much of his Susano-o was activated before Kirin hit, which is a technique that moves as fast as lightning. We just know he got enough of it up in time to protect himself. Shield may or may not have been active at all.

TBH Pein, Itachi, and Jiraiya were too strong for the manga. They were Hashirama/Madara level strong and had too much potential.
Kishi had to kill them off. Gai's my homie and da real GOAT but his ultimate power had too much of a costly recoil (death)
Itachi really was unbeatabe when you put his stats on paper. Jiraiya is a ******* tank and Pein is a ******* gameshark.
If those 3 were left alive, Madara would have ultimately been clapped in 2-3 chapters.

I'm almost finished with Durarara. I remember it coming on toonami a few years ago but I didn't really give it a chance. it's actually a great show. sorta like stuff from episode 1 finally make sense on episode 20
then I saw that there's a new season on in January
I remember this, and I actually tried to give it a chance back then but the flaw with watching an anime exclusively through Adult Swim is that it's extremely easy to not be home at midnight on a Saturday, so I missed so many episodes that I had to throw in the towel because I didn't know what the hell was going on anymore
Are you watching the Sub or the Dub?

subs. I have crunchyrill( which probably has the dubs) but I wanted to watch it on my Xbox. and Hulu plus only has the subs. it was fine thoughI'm almost finished with Durarara. I'm surprised Naruto only used the FTG technique like twice in the whole anime and they never acknowledged it as what he did, just that he was almost as fast as his dad.
