the draft only works if you draft the right guys... we really messed up the Frank and knox pick and passing on better players... with that being said I hope we do trade for cp3

Come on ..

Post this to say, that although people like to clown the knicks and say we draft terrible ... the sports biggest athletes aren't always #1 and often passed on.

Why aren't people clowning us? BS.

Just looking at some of those name in the top 5 of those drafts and those players were barely serviceable. If RJ shows he is as good as i think he will be you can at least say when the knicks get a top five pick they have been good to great players.

Whats funny ....

People had jokes when Frank went ahead of DSJr ..

Lebron was out there like the ***** he has always been, talking wrecklesly om how DSJr was the truth and how the Knicks ****** up. A lot of cats here were cursing the pick and point at DSJR. Now that he's here .. oh his terrible .. how dumb the knicks are to trade KP for picks, salary dumps and DSJr etc etc ...

So what is it? Cant have it both ways.

Frank is a better player than DSJr even if DSJr might be a little more explosive. The problem is our development of youth is non existent.

To go back on Frank and DSJr we did make a better pick.

For god sake Steven A was calling for Malik Monk ... smh

Don’t quite get your point.. The Knicks were sure Curry was going to fall to them at 8.. couldn’t get The Warriors to agree to a trade..
IDK if you look at the Bucks all their previous star players in the 00’s moving forward excelled at one skill.. then they slowly develop their other skills. Same with Giannis

Top 6 really. Gallinari was a very good pick.

People are clowning because we always miss on the draft and on FA. Frank Nitty being better than DSJ is moot as they are both complete scrubs to date. The "they were doing it too" is the most elementary of responses. Knicks issues are Knicks issues.

The point is that most team suck at drafting because there are no guarantees.

You lost me with the extra **** ....

Actually .. knicks problems aren't knicks problems ... this ks the mentality that Im talking about.

Stop it ...

Greg Oden was chosen #1 over Kevin Durant ... but yet drafting is easy.

Whether the DSjr Frank picks are moot, it wasn't when it happened or a year after, we were the laughing stock, but now is moot.

And just to shut your entire argument down we don’t always miss ... recently we drafted KP and Mitch in the second.

So thats that ....

Its moot because if we had drafted DSJ people wouldn't have laughed but he still turned out to be a scrub like the dude we drafted. So what other people would have been fine with it had we drafted DSJ. I forgot about KP  since he didnt want to be here. He's a huge talent but due to injuries he hasn't been able to play consistently. Mitch is a hit based on where he was drafted but hasn't reached NBA impact player level that was mentioned in your charts just yet.

The reality is once KP showed that he was an allstar caliber player the team shouldn't have drafted players that were going to be 2-3 year projects in Frank and Knox. Hopefully Leon has a plan and stick with it even if the team stays terrible in the short term.

when you pass on guys like donovan mitchell, shai and porter jr and take guys like Knox and Frank instead is a bad sign...besides KP and maybe RJ the draft is usually bad pics by us... it's not always about landing the #1 pick really... gallo was actually a good pick... you look at other teams and they build through the draft but us we do the opposite and try to sign guys in free agency only to get nothing...look at the heat, celtics, Philly and nuggets.... they have good role players and all stars they can build around meanwhile we have to hope for the best with our team... but it's obvious some of the young guys here are just not that good...what's the purpose of getting lottery picks every year but picking the wrong guy majority of the time

But that's not the point. But ok.

I think Knox is beyond trash, but whose to say he couldn’t stand in the corner in Denver and hit 3s like MPJ has been? Both their defense is beyond trash too. MPJ handle is much more advanced though. Playing on a good team does wonders for development. Less is expected from you. Look at Smart and Jaylen Brown, if they started their careers as a Knick, fans would be calling for their heads.

Knox absolutely looked the part of potential worth taking a risk on as a young rookie. Issue is he hasn’t developed AT ALL. Same with Frank really.

Picking the "known stars" is easy but they usually go very early. We often aren't in that position. And the guys who end up being stars that weren't tabbed as stars are usually skipped over by multiple teams in the first place.

Outside of the obvious picks, a good amount of the guys we drafted in the past 15 years ended up being serviceable role players who have had solid careers. The biggest issue is we didn't utilize them properly. Once they ended up in structured environments they did what they do best within their roles.

Donovan and Shai were misses but it happens. Mitchell was a dark horse candidate for stardom, Shai has pretty much exceeded expectations. Porter Jr. was suffering from a potential career ending injury before even stepping foot at Missouri and ended up never playing. Y'all speaking in retrospect and quite honestly with how shaky we are over here, not taking him was probably the best thing for him and us.

They would be in the G league on their way out.

A 39% 3 point shooter ... mostly catch and shoot doesn't even get minutes. Yet you have people like Jones, Kover, Fry, etc making a living of this.

The knicks def got the wrong coach in Fiz and he has delayed everyones progress with whomeever has the ball shoot it and pick a man defense.

**** him ...

100%

But yet we were dumb for not picking ....

Drafting from behind is absolutely the hardest thing to do, imo. Especially in the age of regular 19yo lottery picks. At that age by default you are drafting a project in 99% of the cases. Then into a losing situation with a high coaching turnover is even more detrimental. Frank is a bust still has another 3 years before the ink completely dries on that he's still a kid by NBA standards. When the team you're drafted too is lottery material, or tanking , you dont get the luxury of looking and learning nor the advantage of proper and consistent tutelage .
