The NBA Draft Thread

Kevin Love is not a 5 man.

I will say I think the pendulum eventually swings - perhaps by rule change - and post play becomes more valuable than it has been lately. I'd bet on Okafor with that in mind. Only so long the league has 6'8 guys playing center with teams taking 40 threes without a reaction to that.

Okafor came in with one of the most polished post games ever out of college, is only 20 years old and will probably average Elton Brand numbers for his whole career yet people on here are saying they'd rather have Alex Len over him

For those that wanna say that you can't win with a post player who's a bad defender......is Kevin Love not playing in the damn NBA Finals tonight?

Rim protection > Post offense.

If you can't see why then I don't know what game you've been watching.

You comparing Love like he's actually a center or that he won anything before playing with Lebron, terrible example.

He's also part of the reason they lost two games to Toronto with his terrible PnR defense and they had to sit him in the 4th quarter on more than 1 occasion.

Notice how there was no team in the final 4 teams that didn't have a rim protector.

You saying he's gonna put up Elton Brand #'s, what did his teams ever win?

Polished post game means nothing when you kill the pace of your team when you're on the floor, you turn the ORTG of your team from bad to historically bad and you raise the opponents to an elite level.

There's nothing that he adds and even as he improves, he'll never be able to protect the rim which puts a ceiling on him that doesn't work if he's your franchise player.

Let me know the last time you saw a transcendant 5 who also couldn't defend the rim?

I'll wait.

If Okafor is surrounded by the right players, he'll be perfectly fine. 20 years old playing in the worst situation in the history of basketball.

I'm not too worried about Okafor either. If you put him next to let's say Serge Ibaka, you can hide some of his defensive woes. Same goes for you having an excellent perimeter defense that keeps guys out of the paint.

I don't think Okafor is a 5 either but he has the size to guard the position. I've seen Okafor play some solid defense, I think it's more about effort with him. Bust his *** and take him out of the game when he isn't playing defense if you're his next coach.

Haha this was my idea for the Celtics.

Noah Vonleh still only 20 years old.

He's 11 months older than Ben Simmons, **** crazy.

What is Reddick, 6''4? Either way, he is notorious for his t rex wingspan/standing reach

Sure, but he is a 3 point specialist and one of the best shooters in the league overall.

The only other "smaller" guys they have are Austin Rivers who is 6'4 with elite athleticism and 6'5 Jamal Crawford.

The clippers roster is comprised of small guards? How so
I think he means their wing players don't have much size. If anything, they have below average height at the SG/SF positions and where they have height, they don't have #girth ( @Meangene45   )

And outside of Wesley Johnson, how many are really know to strap?

So more size at those positions would help

He said small guards, so forwards have nothing to do with this

If we're talking guards they have: CP, JJ, Rivers, Crawford, Pablo and Wilcox. These guys aren't small outside of Paul

JJ and Rivers are actually pretty decent defenders

Clips could use another facilitator, not so much size. You see what happens when you let Austin and Crawford handle the PG duties when Paul sits

Eh, it is 2016. If someone says guards, I am sure they are speaking of perimeter non-bigs.

Rivers is decent

JJ is a decent positional defender.

But neither is, "Aye, go hold him to 40% shooting tonight and keep him below his averages."

They are capable.

They need a bucket getting that isn't going to be inefficient and a liability on the defensive end. (Like Jamal). Love Jamal but he doesn't give you either of those things.

Outside of CP, literally every player on their roster isn't small

You see what happens to their offense when the bench comes in. You have Austin and Crawford as primary ball handlers just chucking up shots. If Austin leaves in free agency, you literally have no back up ball handler outside of a washed Crawford (is he even returning?)

Of course their bench could be completely overhauled so we really don't know right now. All I'm saying is, they don't have small players or guards or bigs or whatever
