I still can’t believe my eyes when I see MJ in a baseball uniform. I know it was his fav growing up but it looks so odd. That Bulls uniform is like the S logo on Superman.

I really am impressed with the editing, and this is going to modernize and then update Jordan’s image, as he is in control of the narrative. He has done it at a good age as well, using hindsight and a bit of maturity. This will no doubt enhance the profile of his brand. Brilliant marketing move. He had the cojones to broach the topic of politics, race, just so the racist denizens of NikeTalk cannot legitimately keep the discussion of race and politics out of this thread. You know how they are, if you talk about race? Then you are the problem, not the people who invented racism. They seem to feel that if you do not discuss racism, that it will simply go away just like the sole collector forums. That said, this generation of athlete has shunned the example that the off the court Jordan has embraced. The I Can’t Breathe tees worn by Derrick Rose first, then the hoodie shot with the Miami Heat, the unified message on police brutality at the espy’s, I am happy to say that while this generation does not play against the brutality of the Detroit Pistons in order to prove their on court toughness? They’ve taken on an even tougher opponent, one that has been laying the smack down since 1619.

u can tell bruh had a gambling problem

we all knew it. It’s even more blatantly obvious when you hear Jordan try and defend it. They not going down that rabbit hole at all. Someone needs to do a doc about alternative motives behind his first retirement. Also cutting his finger on the cigar cutter. What really happened there?

We’re definitely getting more details on stuff confirming a lot of what we already suspected. It’s crazy looking back on how different we viewed the situation as young kids and fans of mj
thats why they say never meet ur heroes
great basketball player undoubtedly
but IMO
being a douche
who doesnt stand for nothing
knocks u down a lil off MY list
of GOAT

I completely understand that. I don’t knock the people who feel this way. My thing with Jordan is I’m looking at him strictly as a basketball player. I don’t look to pro athletes and celebrities as role models but I know a lot do so I get it.

him saying he was “just a basketball player” is acceptable to me. Of course I’m thinking before you’re a basketball player or anything else you’re a black man first. So to not acknowledge the plight that comes with that is not cool with me. But who am I or anyone to say anything about that. He grew up in Carolina in the 60’s and 70’s he most definitely experienced WILD racism on a level that we probably don’t even know so who knows what his reasons/motives are.He could just be traumatized and been using basketball as a way to run away from it since high school.
Being the talent that he is he’s been in a bubble the better part of his life turning a blind eye and being oblivious to certain realities. It’s also jaded him and made him an *******. But how would any of us handle that situation?? U can’t know

Nah, I met Muhammad Ali twice. Once at a CORE awards event, then at the premier of When We Were Kings. I sat in the same row as Muhammad, given tickets by his photog Howard Bingham. He was always the same, never drunk nor high in public, funny as hell, then unapologetically Black. Dr.J is the same way.

YOU dont have to look at them at role models
i dont either
BUT
i know SOME folks do
and with knowing that SOMEONE is going to look up to u
ESPECIALLY being a black man
and prominent figure
a person like that will be looked up to
by people who look like him
thats just plain FACTS
and for anyone to try and deny that
and pretend he should only play basketball
and not speak on issues
is foolishness

i wasnt speaking on someone of HIS pedigree
we know the type of cloth Ali cut from

less talented men
have stood for more than him
no excuses
WE gotta stop making excuses for behavior like his

When he was looking at the tablet about what Gary Payton said then said "The Glove" mocking him like "you aint shut nobody down" then laughed :rollin

most definitely. I think mike is the main person who wanted to only play basketball. The assumption that someone in his position has to have integrity, look out or have good intent is a mistake that we often make.

Yup. Many millennials do not know who Dr.J even is, nor how he carried himself not only as an athlete, but as a Black man as well. Big fro, Black schoolyard game, defying that of the NBA and their old school regimented style of play. Doc was that dude.

I agree with all this. But we gotta separate our leaders from basketball players and celebrities and stop condoning and allowing our children to do it.

agree
BUT
i would also say
that we should stop putting the ones
who dont speak up for US
on a pedestal
hell Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf spoke out more than MJ

see now you talking that talk  That discussion belongs in that other thread but yeah, the pedestal. How do they get there and what not. Jordan is perceived as a biscuit boy but how is lebron any different if he’s only broadcasting the image of being for the cause and more conscious about social issues when at the end of the day him and jordan serve the same master??

go head king
expound on this
