STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

i've had my black pair of romaleos for over a year. use them about 5x/week. i lift outside so the shoes look kinda dirty but the outsoles look barely worn. pretty sure they have lots of life left in them.

This sounds like straight comedy though i wish i could see this
Lol I would be cracking up so hard but a lot of people found them extremely obnoxious and hated them. Eventually the police task force showed up one day because one of them threatened to beat up this 5 ft dude who worked at the front desk and the police escorted them out never to return again. they needed the whole unit there because these dudes were huge.

theyre somewhere out here in the bay area terrorizing another gym

What's the expected durability of these lifting shoes?Trying to justify this to myself as well considering I have shoes for running, ball, cycling and cross-training already...
Romaleos will last forever. kinda srs

The strings would be the only thing I could see myself replacing. I say this as I just got another pair yesterday lol

Red80, I think you mentioned it was the 24 in Pacifica a while back. I know exactly what dudes you're talking about. Obnoxious as hell.

Youre gonna have them for years, youre using them ONLY to lift in. Granted you walk around in them but thats basically no abuse right there, and youre not going to wear them casually. Running shoes, basketball shoes, just cause of their intended/casual use means their life cycle is a couple years.

Youre not running or wearing these casually, probably wear them a few years in total out of the week.

Have some crazy dudes like that at my old gym as well. One dude was a bouncer and would just rip off his shirt then scream and shout for no reason. Dudes were jokes for days.

ALL THE TIME

why i cant stand going there anymore, my boy an I had a discussion about this recently

its like a fashion show, i only mess with that gym early mornings with older crowd now
Whats wrong with J's at the gym? They arent the best workout shoes but unless you are squatting or DLing, then practically any sneaker would be useable at the gym. I use flyknits, and while I probably would feel more stable wearing flat soled shoes, it doesnt affect me too much, and I then have my dedicated lifting shoes for DL and squats.

Its not necessarily a fashion show, you forget to some of these dudes, Jordans are the comfiest shoes they probably have, or *gasp* maybe they just like em enough to actually wear them out.

I rarely think of it as a fashion show, unless they are REALLY giving off that "I actually tried to look kewl at the gym". But yeah, you right with that last line.

Its like that out here at most LA Fitness here in the DC Area. I see folks working out in Foams, unlaced, Timberlands, I mean I dont care what u work out in. The one thing that annoys me is dudes working out in Flip Flops and Sandals... Nobody wants to see your crusty ashy feet man.. Plus dont drop a weight.

I go in the evening like around 8 to close. Its been pretty chill since April when the Resolution Folks stopped coming, then June when the "I want to look good for the summer" folks stopped coming. Now its the regulars that are there. Its to the point you see the same folks daily.

I like this time of year the gym is empty from August until December since nobody comes to the gym like that since Summer is about to end, School is about to start, and everyone took their vacations.

My gym put up signs saying please don't drop weights

No way Im trying to put the 120s down softly

Naw there's putting down weights and then there's dropping them. I see these big dudes literally toss the weights up into the air to make sure they get attention

If they use dumbbells after a set they literally toss them in opposite directions to make then roll all over the place. THATS dropping weights

Squat/DL day bros. Then gonna hit the spin bike and stairmaster for 40 min together.

Down to 185, which frankly I think the scale is wrong. Its the standard hospital type scale where you move the thingy til it gets balanced. I asked a dude that worked there if his weight is correct on it and he said yep pretty much, then I made sure it was calibrated right and it was, but I still refuse to believe I dropped to 185 THAT fast. I was JUST 195 about 2 weeks ago. I can believe 190, but 185? Eh...My goal IS to lose weight and hit 180-185 by September, but something about this doesnt seem right.

Guys sorry if this is a really obvious question or a noob question but I'm a beginner so I'm not completely sure.

I'm trying to get some dumbbells to use in my house since I'm not able to go to a gym because I don't have a local one walking distance nor do I drive.

I previously bought some dumbbells but those are becoming too easy for me and I'm trying to get heavier ones.

When getting dumbbells should I go for ones that are a little hard to pullup but it's still doable? Rather than one that take effort but still fairly easy to pullup. I've heard people say try and stick with the heavier weight when trying to select which one to lift. But idk.

All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
