Yup. Saw a girl with fat @#$ on the Smith machine next to me, so I put on an extra 10 on each side to impress her. Couldn't even get back up on the third rep; I dropped the weight on the safety bars and started cussing at my hands to play it off , pretending like I lost my grip or something :lol:
 
I am now a certified personal trainer. I would say this thread, all those years ago, helped contribute to my decision to go after it.

A lot has changed the last few years, in this thread, as well as in general in regards to fitness and the rise in popularity in chest days and preworkouts.

Still love it.

I have some some cool ideas I think I can use to make a career out of this. Gonna pitch my own group class, working on a website, have a name in mind.

Anyone else actually take the ball and run with it? Or is training at a gym at least?

I'll be training at my gym, too, but I wonder if anyone here has any experience doing more stuff.

I just got a foam roller for home a week ago and love having one here to use whenever.

Durden how much sleep should I be getting at night? The trainer at my gym said I would see more gains if I got more rest, he thinks me playing basketball some nights is affecting my gains due to less rest. But I get close to a solid 8hrs of sleep a night.  I personally don't think it is hurting my gains.

Also how bad is butt winking on the squat? How can I fix it, work on hip mobility?

was just thinking about doing the same. and a lacrosse ball. When I was watching TWD last night i was feeling the tightness in my thighs. would've been perfect timing if i had the ball to do some therapy on it.
 
My girl just bought a cheap roller for the house, nice having one around. I tried the rumble roller out while I was at sports authority this weekend though and pheww.. You guys were right, whole different feel. Def on the Xmas list now.
 
Anybody here use some form of kinesio tape? Interested to see some different views on how well it works and if there is a slight placebo effect.  Thanks.

aside from racking the dumbell at work and pinching my finger and making a big slice over 6 months ago, i haven't done too much embarrassing stuff recently. was doing goblet squats last week and holding position at the bottom trying to get low as possible. felt good and comfortable while i was down there so i ditched the kettlebell and ended up on my back :lol:

vegetables with chicken or steak.


My go to is tomatoes, onionns, mushroom and spinach with chicken. sometimes no chicken and peppers instead.

While 8 is sufficient for me, I notice I feel a lot better and function a lot better when I'm getting closer to 9 a night.

I almost got folded squatting last friday @ LA fitness :smh: :smh:

Got to the 4th or 5th rep going A2G and almost got complete muscle failure :lol:

Worst part is that I was only squatting 220..:\ :smh:

awesome. i used to have to buy xl shirts just to accommodate my gut. nowadays i usually wear a large...sometimes a medium if i'm feeling uppity.

How often do you play basketball?

How much sleep someone should be getting is a pretty relative thing. The recovery process involves more than just sleep so if something inhibiting your progress, it could be any number of variables. The type of sleep matters too but all those sleep studies go way over my head and I dont care to get that involved. In general, id say that 8 hours is sufficient sleep.


Personally, I dont think the butt wink is a big deal but obviously when you start approaching maximal weights any limitation/fault will be magnified and thats when it becomes an issue.

Its part mobility, part form. Its basically just a re-correction from too much lumbar extension. Without knowing your form, you could be pushing/sitting your butt back too much. This'll create too much lumbar extension in the bottom position. If thats the case you can try to think of just sitting down and not sitting back. If its not the case, id work on calf mobility, some hamstring mobility or just dont squat so deep. A lot of people squat too deep ironically enough.
