Rey’s whole plot is about finding her parents so she can be...happy? But all the while she has a destiny to fulfill. The twist? Her parents are dead(?) so she’s sad? No she isn’t. And the destiny she’s suppose to fulfill is being a Jedi, I think. But the Jedi are dead.

What???
You're kind of pretending to know stuff that are kept under wraps over at Lucasfilm.
Rey's lineage is STILL a mystery, we know nothing aside from the fact that she was
orphaned at an early age left to fend for herself.

You're complaining that you don't know EVERYTHING about the character? It's called
a trilogy for a reason. Let's face it, the OT handicaps and blesses this current set of
films for multiple reasons that you guys already know. Focusing and EXPLAINING
everything on the 2nd film will be pointless. Just like your qualms right now.

Were you also mad that they only revealed keyser soze at the end? Bet you wanted
to know about the twist and all the details in the first 20 minutes too.

whut.

look at that gif!
i stand by my statement - best fight scene in all of the star wars movie to this point.
Obi Wan-Ani fight is still tops for me.
This scene is second.

The Darth Maul fight is nowhere near the top for me just because their strikes lacked emotion, like
it was a dance. A planned dance. Unlike the battle on Starkiller or the throne room, it felt off key and
real. I'd even pick Rebels fight scenes over Maul's Macarena.

Guards fought and died with Honor against two freaks of Nature with superhuman abilities in one of the better choreographed action sequences in recent SW movies. Step back and go criticize about something else.

Dude is clearly blinded by hate. LMAO "nothing" was happening yet
these guards gave these gods a tough time. If Rey wasn't around Kylo
woulda lost a hand for sure.

I guess if you hate one thing you HAVE to hate everything? Even if
you're objectively wrong.

2 out of 3 films in and I have no idea what the protagonists motivation is for anything she’s doing. Please enlighten me and others who may be curious.

I thought maybe I missed something about them. Nope, as that poster said they are basically high level samurai with elite level weapons. It shouldn’t take more than a force blast to clear the room of all of them.

In the revenge of the Sith, palps takes out two Jedi masters (if memory serves me correctly) within 5-7 seconds before he starts going ham with Mace.

Would of been way more lit if Snope had them under some sort of mind control and they were the other Knights of Ren.

And to have Rey face off against them in the throne room solo to test her skillz in the force.

Then Kylo sick of seeing his friends and also now his girl Rey (and himself) manipulated did that killing move.

Even better would of been an ending of the Knights then being out from under Snopes control and standing behind Kylo. Then Rey force blasting the entire room to get out of there after a force tug of pull with Kylo or some other Star Wars style escape (similar to how Potter and Voldemort locked up).

I get where you're coming from. Was under the impression the Elite Praetorian Guards were at above the Imperial Guards level from the comic book series "Crimson Empire". Where they are Force sensitive and intensively trained. That would make them formidable to Darth Emo and WhoeverHerParentsAre.
IGs did nothing in the film, but like the fact that EPGs actually fought.

Sigh. Just realized something super wrong with this. At the end Kylo throws his saber strike into the ground a split second too early. It’s like he puts the saber into the ground and then the guard hits the saber on purpose lol. I blame the guard actor tho since Kylo was ducking and had no choice.

Kylo does use the force and can sort of predict the next move right? But it does look WRONG in the gif.
If you really analyze it, Kylo starts to guard as the PG begins his motion and too late for him to counter Kylo.

I noticed this in the gif, too, and came to the same conclusion.

It is a pretty awesome move regardless. He literally handles 3 people with that move from start to finish and executes it as if he actually was able to predict what they were gonna do.

Send a guy past him with the initial swing, ducks the second attack from a diff guy at his head and blocks the third attack to the legs from the third guy.

Prollly my only true beef with the film is Phasma now that I’ve had a few watches and a few weeks to digest it all. Had a great back story and could of been an excellent character, especially cuz they had the right casting (Game of Thrones chick)

If you like lightsaber fights, the way Kylo Ren handles and attacks with the sword is so
fun to watch. We've never really seen a fighter maximize a lightsaber the way they have
in the current movies.

How snowflakes fizzle as they touch the lightsaber in TFA on Starkiller.
How Rey drags it through the ground in multiple occasions.
Kylo stabbing Finn with his crossguard.
The glorious Throne Room sequence.

They just add so much to what is already known/seen.

Was never a fan of the casting cause she always acted very wooden in armor and with mask off in GOT. Yes I've trooped in full gear so understand it's a full suit. Some people can pull off, some people can not. Book and Comic look good though.

You’re actually probably right. There’s just not many actresses that are capable (size athleticism etc) that I know of. She seems like she’d be a good fit (if a little too ugly lol) based on the Phasma book.

It's pretty incredible that Phasma/Christie was criminally underused in two back-to-back movies. Even a change in director didn't change her fate. Oh well.

I was super disappointed with the Rey/Kylo duel in TFA. I understand some of the choreography was supposed to make Rey look like a noob, but everything else from the direction, editing, and even Williams’ score during the fight was very unmemorable.

The PG fight was litty in every way though.

Only critique on the fighting is that he always does that leg stomp before sabering up. I can't get it out of my head

I guess we just expect more from every single character these days. Heck, even "traitor trooper" from TFA
was given a backstory.
I'm good with what we got from Phasma, never really wanted anything more from her and I understand
that not everyone needs fleshing out.

editing was bad? thought it was fine, not perfect but just fine.

signature stance, kinda like Obi Wan's finger thing.

I remember a lot of closeups and quick cuts that made it a little hard to follow. It’s not the worst thing ever, but definitely the least memorable duel in the saga for me. The way Rian shot the PG fight was 100x better.

I’m gonna need JJ to step up his game for the rematch and also Williams gotta deliver a duel of the fates/battle of heroes-type theme too.

oh I see what you mean. Yeah, they definitely could have done it smoother especially towards the end.
But then again, most of TFA is edited abruptly.

Let's hope they get the same crew for fight sequences from 8 to 9.

Especially with all the BS she's been saying about how her character will be portrayed in the movie and everything. It's like, maybe she was still thinking GoT in her brain because it sure as hell wasn't Star Wars.
