It's pretty incredible that Phasma/Christie was criminally underused in two back-to-back movies. Even a change in director didn't change her fate. Oh well.

One could make the argument that Snoke/Serkis was criminally underused too. :rolleyes

Especially with all the BS she's been saying about how her character will be portrayed in the movie and everything. It's like, maybe she was still thinking GoT in her brain because it sure as hell wasn't Star Wars.

Her Disney/SW payday is far, far higher than what she makes in GoT. She'd say 'ish about her mother to keep Disney happy and hype up the film.

I think at this point they kept Phasma around to tick off some box that mandates the use of a 6ft+, blonde/blue eyed woman as a baddie in the film.

I'd rather have a Phasma type Stormtrooper than have them battle all the basic troopers.
She's mostly there to add weight to Finn's story. We expected her to have a meaty role
when in fact she's served her purpose.

What purpose is this though? As a casual SW fan, she was in all fairness a bit lenient on Finn when he freaked out on Jakku (sp??) and didn't have him executed on the spot. Then in the final chapter of TFA she's humiliated by Finn and I think most of us casual fans would be OK with her perishing along with some of the other First Order baddies on Starkiller base.

It’s called the Jedi and sith at the top of their powers. Y’all find anything and everything to hate on the prequels. Maul/obi-wan is epic plain and simple
are you referring to the Maul fight? it's pretty to watch but in terms of FIGHTING, it's not the best.

I think for me her purpose was to just connect Finn to the First Order because otherwise, no one really cares if
you defect. That's it. Imagine a scene with Phasma reminiscing or even fleshing out a backstory. No thanks

I was super disappointed with the Rey/Kylo duel in TFA. I understand some of the choreography was supposed to make Rey look like a noob, but everything else from the direction, editing, and even Williams’ score during the fight was very unmemorable.

The PG fight was litty in every way though.

I did like how they they made it seem like broadsword fighting where the sabers were heavy and I like the slight change in sounds. But yeah, TFA fight was meh. PG fight was way better. But they really need to do a 5-10 year time jump and I want to see both of them lightsaber Master's in the next one.

Yes the maul fight. It is a fight. Darn epic fight. Crazy if you think it’s not

not sure if you remembering things differently but Qui Gon not even tryna killa nobody. Maul's face was wide open but dude
said "let me hit the lightsaber so we can prolong this"
Obi Wan lacks effort too, you can see Ewan being hesitant.

Like I said, it looks pretty but this is FAR FROM A FIGHT.
I prefer fights in Rebels over this. Ashoka - Vader, etc.

^ I think this just goes to show that
1) double-bladed lightsabers look cool but really wouldn't be an advantage in a fight. If anything, it would simply impede your movement trying not to cut yourself in half with the other blade.
2) one person taking on two is at a big disadvantage unless you've got a choreography team (/plot armor) keeping you alive.

All that being said, I'm going to feel pretty disappointed if Rey doesn't wield a double-bladed lightsaber at some point, with all the emphasis on her training with a (normal) staff on Jakku. I'm okay with it not working IRL but looking cool in a movie.

Like I said find anything to hate on the prequels. When you slow anything dosn it’s nt as good
What are you even saying. I'm not hating on "anything".
I'm stating facts, Ewan looks like he's counting steps and
doesn't look like he's trying to chop a head off.

Do you not see this? LMAO

If you watched Daredevil and THEN watch the Maul fight, it would look like they're ballerinas.
And I'm not making fun of anything, just calling it as it is.

Again:
It looks nice but they're not FIGHTING.

and look at the first GIF.
Qui Gon has a clear headshot yet he chooses to smash the lightsaber softly.
second GIF, another clear headshot, he again swings down away from the head.
third GIF, Jedi Master ain't even swatting, he's just holding his saber upright when
he coulda sliced Maul.

I can't explain this more clearly. cheers.

Only critique on the fighting is that he always does that leg stomp before sabering up. I can't get it out of my head

That infamous Darth Emo two-step. The broadsword look is at least different from all. And his physical skill with the weapon is actually very good. Some vids out there in practice.

I guess we just expect more from every single character these days. Heck, even "traitor trooper" from TFA
was given a backstory.
I'm good with what we got from Phasma, never really wanted anything more from her and I understand
that not everyone needs fleshing out.

FN-2199 (TR-8R) moved better and more interesting to me than Phas. Dude was a boss. The Troopers backstory was an interesting insight.

TFA used way more Troopers effectively than TLJ. Was floored when first saw movie. Hope they develop more in next movie.

My absolute favorite part of that Maul scene is when the shields come down, and Qwi-Gon kneels and meditates, and Maul is just pacing back and forth, a caged animal just dying to get to him. I LOVED that part of it, the difference in the sensitive Jedi, and the rage filled Sith. Truly one of my favorite parts of the film.

That and when Maul slowly takes his hood down, and half the squad is like "nope" :lol :rollin That was a bad *** scene.

YEP! That was indeed the best scene. Maul in his ferocity being impatient even tried to cut the shield once. LOL
Qui Gon looking like a badass just chilled. LOVED THAT SCENE.

Honestly, Qui Gon should have won that fight if Obi wasn't there haha

you are so right they are not fighting. Just stop with that non sense talking. This is better then anything the last two movies have put out besides Vader in rogue one

There's a lot of terrible stuff in this scene man. A lot of good stuff too, in fact, I really like the....anger?.....it seems from Obi Wan, almost like he was the Sith and Maul was the Jedi the way they sort of reverse their feelings there. That's awesome.
The twirling and spinning, no, not really.

And dead ***, Maul sitting there, while Obi looks over at the lightsaber (that there's no way he could see) and looks again, and then again, and Maul stands there, and then Obi Jumps, dead *** right in front of Maul and his blade, and Maul sits there and watches him........nah man. That is really really bad. I get Maul playin with his food so to speak, swingin his saber and makin sparks, I get that, but he CLEARLY sees Obi Wan lookin over at the saber, Sith/Jedi can sense others thoughts and feelings, he could clearly see Obi Wan was tryin to get to the saber. No way Maul should stand there and let him jump completely in front of him, over him, catch, and swing, and Maul does nothin but watch. C'mon.
