Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Is Drake a once in the lifetime talent ?yes definitely. But when it comes to "hiphop" and the aspects of creating and delivering music / original content that the mc "writes" he can't ever be considered top anything

Drake is essentially a performer of music more than an Mc. The dead giveaway is just plainly listening to his albums or loose singles

Every Drake album is a group of songs pooled from different sources and Drake simply performs the music. That's why all his albums sound completely different, it's essentially grabbing new waves on each release

Once the Quentin Miller news came out it ended / destroyed his credibility

Haven’t even seen any Drake hate in here.

A lot of people don’t consider him a rapper, he’s a pop star. Drake fans find that offensive for whatever reason. Drake wanted to be a pop star, he makes pop music. I’m not calling anyone a rapper that’s making kidz bop or hollister music in my top anything. God’s Plan is a straight up pop song. Hotline Bling, dame ****. Views and More Life are very pop.

Never heard anyone consider him an mc :lol

And don't try to bring up the fans because they're delusional, just like any fan of an artist who they Stan for. And 40 pretty much discussed that whole writing situation with Ak.

Idk... people consider Lil Wayne a rapper and y'know... T-pain as well. I'd say they are artists, and those artists make rap songs, pop songs, sad songs, etc.

I never hate on Drake but he def gets a wild pass from alotta ppl on his “bars” or just straight up rapping ...he got writers and all he does is basic punchlines that a 11 year old in NYC doing right now
