Punchlines and word play mean something guys. Just saying

I meant musical impact. I feel like during Jays peak years, guys like Nas,DMX, Em, and 50 all peaked higher. However Jay is looked at as the GOAT
How old are you? Bruh Stan. Yes thats where ther word came from. This
Same with Eminem. I don't rank those two with other greats. I put them in the "rap a lot of words but ain't saying ****" category.
Not to drag it out but like musically, longevity, visibility; all of that. He stands the test of time. Some of his biggest hits still sound great almost 30 years later.I mean "All Time" means ALL of the time therefore it is NOT generational(That LeBron talk lol), but we can agree to disagree, I guess.
That was early in his career. Eminem has been rapping gibberish for way longer than that. How old are you? Bruh Stan. Yes thats where ther word came from.
I never said anything about sales. I was just talking about what people were listening to. But back then you had to pay for music so I guess its partly sales. But when I talk to a lot of older friends/fam they all rocked with Jay but he just didnt have the game on lock like his reputation suggest. Thats all im saying. Its probably a regional thingThat's a dumb argument
It's a who sold the most argument. That's not hip hop and has never been hop hop.
So Hammer was better than Rakim? Vanilla Ice better than LL?
Some of you need to start using your analytical and critical thinking skills instead of following random twitter thoughts.
Ok Red, its still part of his career tho. Also how do you know this if you don't listen to him? That was early in his career. Eminem has been rapping gibberish for way longer than that.
I even recall in the mtv days in the 90’s Jay was one of those dudes you held a level above the TRL acts like Nelly, DMX and 50. I’m not sure someone who is under 35 really gets the difference. Mid-90’s there was an artistic level attained by Pac, Biggie, Jay, Dre, Snoop that those other dudes weren’t even considered in the same league as, regardless of album sales or what was hot.Twitter said that Jay-Z never was the hottest in any year, because Nelly, 50, Ja, DMX....
****in Nelly, the dude who used ghostwriters and made pop songs was better than Jay-Z?
but yeah, let's run with that...
This isn't the NFL where you can say, Barry Sanders ran for....Emmitt Smith ran for....Adrian Peterson ran for.
It's not that easy, and it's all subjective and opinion, but most people aren't even qualified to speak on rap. It's like a 20 year old giving their opinion on basketball. It's some 15 year old in Atlanta saying Anthony Edwards is his favorite player and the GOAT.
Been listening to him since '98. He was my favorite rapper for years. But Iverson then ain't Iverson now. And its okay to admit that.
Carter 1 and 2 had substance.
I miss my Dawgs is an emotional track about the literal break up of the OG Cash Money/ Got Boys.
Hustler Muzik speaks for itself.
Receipt (Carter 2) - is actually a solid girl track dedicated to Trina and describing their relationship at the time.
I'd probably have to dig into those albums a little more to get some other examples but let's not front like Wayne doesn't have the talent or ability to pen some music with substance.
Now that's just disrespectful.Same with Eminem.
He got like 5 songs total from them 2 albums with substance. Then he only got a few from his 100 mixtapes. No substance from 2008 and up. Waynes catalog is filled with mostly nonsense, he just made it sound good. He was witty, his flow was great but even his peak is only 05-07.
When people talk about Wayne's influence it's lean, face tats, autotune.
Yea I can tell a lot of people never experienced non-cussing Wayne. All they now is X pill Wayne. But its like that for most southern rappers. A lot of people think Trap Musik is TI's first album.
Lies. Juvie already had notoriety, BG was HIM, then it was Wayne.......Turk? He tight! I was THERE there.Non-cussing Wayne when he was 3rd behind Juvie and BG? Nobody was calling Wayne this great rapper back then. He was cool but ya'll always go extra.
It wasn't until 04-05 when he started calling himself the best rapper alive and like I said that peak was only 2-3 years.
Ion know fam, many had Juvie and Wayne at the one and two spotNon-cussing Wayne when he was 3rd behind Juvie and BG? Nobody was calling Wayne this great rapper back then. He was cool but ya'll always go extra.

Never BG and Juve were always 1&2Ion know fam, many had Juvie and Wayne at the one and two spot
Wayne had me singing about loving prostitutes in a raspy voice
wholetime tho his mixtape run is what people remember fr, I RARELY see people mention his albums in these conversations besides C2 and the commercial success of C3
***** was taking folks songs for a solid time period, it’s still some joints I forget weren’t actually his songs
