Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Besides Mal being corny

This is a dude getting a girl, and a bunch of guys see them together and talk about how bad she is. Then, one of the dudes says to his boys. That's nothing, she was on my **** and wanted me before him. She's not all that.

"The boy, can't do anything but act like a boy and act sassy.

Where are yall from? Wayne is a GOAT and a legend. Held down an entire era and label on his own. Literally a rap prodigy.

Wayne at his peak was taking commercially successful songs and making them his songs! Like once he got on a beat nobody didnt even want to listen to the original anymore. I still remember listening to Da Drought 3 for the first time....rappers are not hungry like that no more

Yea I can tell a lot of people never experienced non-cussing Wayne. All they now is X pill Wayne. But its like that for most southern rappers. A lot of people think Trap Musik is TI's first album.

Wayne is not the goat and he didn’t carry anything, especially when overlapped with golden era of Trap (Tip,Jeezy,Gucci,Ross,Gotti)…His music never had any substance or sustainability that’s why he only has 2 good/great Albums. All his other albums have no cohesiveness.

In his own words "you can't un-corny yourself"

I think the question is can he do that today and can he do a whole album of such if we're talking 4:44. We've never heard anything to lead us to believe he can.

My biggest issue with Wayne is that he rarely says anything in his music and this dates back to his mixtape era. It was about "how" he said something verse what he was actually saying imo
I can't debate that. A big part of Wayne's skill is delivery. It's unfortunate that he wasn't encouraged to put more substance in the music.

2 things can be true. Wayne is a GOAT and a generational talent. But also, years of drug abuse and bad decisions have hindered his performance skills.

Been listening to him since '98. He was my favorite rapper for years. But Iverson then ain't Iverson now. And its okay to admit that.

He’s not doing those songs on the Super Bowl halftime stage.

I’m starting to wonder if some of you dudes ever watched the Super Bowl prior to Roc Nation’s involvement.

Im just addressing some of the Wayne disrepect in here in general. Super Bowl or not. When you factor in features, and mixtapes nobody is touching wayne. Talking about studio albums is a waste of time. It was a different era. But at Wayne's peak, you put him at the end of the verse and he's gonna have the best verse easily

What makes Wayne the goat?
I dont think he's the goat but I understand why someone would think that. The man has been doing it for over 25 years...yes TWENTY FIVE. Some of us grew up on Wayne(I'm 42). Believe it or not, he used to write at one point. He even told stories, which I think is the thing that seperates good rappers from GREAT rappers. Shoo Block Burner came on in the car the other day and I still know the song word for word.

LL has been doing it for 40 years 🤷‍♂️

Nas ,30

The, he's been playing so many years isn't a accomplishment at this point. It's like how KD and Steph don't seem like they've been playing that long at a high level, because there's Lebron. You can rap longer now. You can play basketball longer now .

My big cuz grew up on Wayne as well and he's 40. Like I said he's a rap prodigy. Off the longevity alone he is one of the GOATs. Then his influence on a whole region. Its not close man.
